Just curious if anyone's had GenCon recorded for their characters? Are we not expecting any online recording to take place?

Hasn't happened yet, but still expected.

With the database merge and other issues, some on the LFR mailing list have speculated early October.

There hasn't been any official word yet that I know of.

One thing to remember - normally events like Gen Con are reported at the show. With the database merge _every_ reporting sheet was carted back to WotC HQ. Now instead of convention volunteers who have been specifically tasked with entering the results there will need to be someone found who will need to enter all these results in addition to whatever other work they have. Bear in mind poeple like Chris Tulach were at conventions like Gen Con Indy & PAX and thus almost certainly get back to wrok with a backlog of other stuff that also needs doing. I'm slowly but surely getting the Gen Con UK results entered so have a very good comprehension of just how much work is facing whoever is working on the Indy results (rough guess about 5 times as many tables for Indy as opposed to UK).

I'm a little confused by one thing I've spotted in the members login now Kithran. There is a "my characters" tab and within it is an "add character" option. Are we meant to enter and update our LFR PCs, or are they created by the senior DM as part of the event reporting?

I'm not Kithran, but I think I can answer this:

It greatly helps if you enter your LFR characters into the system before you play them (and then remember their character numbers, so they can go on the tracking forms). The last confirmed information I have about the reporting system is that it is difficult or impossible to correctly report a session played by a character which isn't yet in the character-list, though I think they're working on it, and if you only have one character that should report reasonably accurately.

NB: If you know of players who don't have a My Characters link, get them to email dci@wizards.com and ask to be given an RPGA D&D 'Player' status.

So far as I can see, the only options available when you create or edit a character is their name, whether they are your default character, and if that character is retired.

The system automatically generates a number, in sequence, for your characters.

And, according to the character generation guide, you are supposed to mark both your RPGA number and the character's specific sequence number on your character's sheet.

It's not so much just entering results, either. There's the whole sorting through incorrectly written RPGA numbers on the turn-in sheets. I think I was told 2 or 3 different ways to write out my number before it was finally sorted out.

You need to create your characters on-line before the event booking. Otherwise your event is going to be booked on your default character, which is character #1. Paper trumps electronic, but if you don't keep an eye out on this, the whole benefit of electronic (loss of papers, forget to take paper with you, don't want to lug around too much paperwork) gets lost.

At the moment I have only one character, having played precisely one game, so this shouldn't be a problem, but thanks for the info guys.

I believe this is only applicable if you have more than one character.
