I can totally see it, though. * *I don't have Manual of the Planes for 4e, so this is based on 3e knowledge, and rumors I've heard about 4e planes. Regions: 1. Sigil 2. Outlands 3. City of Brass 4. Inner planes 5. Astral Sea 6. Etheral Plane 7. The hells 8. Wherever demons come from now/Abyss 9. The shadow rift/fey realm 10. The far realms/cthluhu-ville 11. Celestia/heavenly adventures 12. Whatever else exists now. How's that for a theme? Anyone else want this? Living Eberron would also be cool, but I think it may be too similar to LFR. Why not do something that would appeal to a different genre/audience? Living Ravenloft would be equally cool, as would living Dark Sun....but my vote is with living Planescape (complete with the factions). |

| #3aberzanzoraxDec 25, 2008 7:59:14 | Thanks for the link. I should have searched first. Well, consider this one more person interested...and interested independent of other's suggestions. I can't think of a better campaign suited to this, except for, perhaps, ravenloft. |
| #4WolfStar76Dec 26, 2008 7:54:12 | I have to confess, I never played any Planescape, however in an RPGA format, I'd be more than willing to give it a shot. I don't know if I'd prefer it over LFR or ___ Eberron, but it could at the very least be a fun diversion. ![]() |

The atmosphere for the setting is absolutely amazing, and despite it's incredibly fantastical nature and basis, it also possess a certain realism that many campaigns and settings lack. Personally I've always felt that Planescape has attracted a more mature and imaginative crowd than a lot of the other settings, and placed a much greater emphasis on story-telling and character development. However, that may be one of the main reasons WotC would decide not to pick it back up ... they've already made more than a few sacrifices as they head in a more kid-friendly, low-brow direction with their game. (*sniffle* poor half-orcs ...) Forgive the rant. This is all just my personal opinions and musings. ![]() |

Unfortunately, since WotC undoubtedly still owns all the Planescape-related intellectual property and copyrights, it'd be exceptionally difficult for a fan-run Living-style campaign to proceed. I am not a lawyer, but my understanding is that you can't write modules for others to run using copyrighted material, without the permission of the copyright holder (this is where several non-RPGA campaigns got into trouble, using the Forgotten Realms). |
