| #1doomwhSep 05, 2009 7:12:09 | Hello everybody, just wanted to thank everyone in advance for your help. I just passed the judges test and wanted to DM some RGA events at my local gaming store. The store had events in the past but doesn't currently have anyone willing to GM 4th edition D&D. My first plan was to try to attract new players by running a campaign in my homebrewed world (basic fantasy world with no houserules) but from looking at the RPGA site it doesn't look like that is an option. So I decided maybe just run some one shot adventures but wen I tried to register the event I could only host private events and could not list the store as the location. I want the event open to new people and hopefully recruit some new RPGA members, the stre owner said he has RPGA numbers for new players. also I could not find a direct link to the module I wanted to run and am not sure where to download them. Anyway any advice I can get would be appreciated. Can I run a campaign as a RPGA event (other than the living campaigns)? How do I creat an event open to the public at my local store? And where can I download everything I need to run the game? |

At what point along this path do you encounter the problem? |

I do have another question, it states I need to let anyone who shows up to play be allowed to do so, but what if 10 people show up. The store owner suggested we put up a sign up sheet with 5 open spots on it and leave it up till those get filled. I would love to be able to host 10 players but I'm not sure that would be practicle. Thanks again for your help. |

You can certainly put a limit on the total number of people who will be playing, require that those people sign up, charge a fee, etc. What they don't want to see is people running WPN games that are only open to friends of the DM or whatnot. Those games are properly called Private games and must be sanctioned as such. They will not appear on the public event calendar. Also, it bears mentioning that all RPGA game tables must have exactly one DM and between four and six other players. So even if you felt comfortable hosting a game with fewer than four or more than six players, you could not do it at an RPGA-sanctioned event. Of course, you can have as many such tables as you want. |

I'm also a new Herald DM, and I would like to run LFR games in a public place. However, at step 2 I get this error: "There is a problem with your request. Most likely you are not a coordinator for this brand or you have no public venues on file. Please contact your WPN representative for assistance." I game in Manila, Philippines and I haven't the foggiest who the WPN rep is in my area, though I have been playing "open" private games for several people these past few weeks, those I have no problems sanctioning. |

I'd suggest contacting WotC Customer Service directly, and see what they can do (either put you in touch with someone, or do something on their end). |

Email addresses for non-Americas WPN offices are here You can also send that information to the WPN by following the link here (if that link doesn't work, post in the thread in my sig). You should then be able to create an event once the details have been added - which can take a few days. |
