As a new RPGA Herald DM I want to jump in and start running events... but is there a start FAQ somewhere? Where can I get the RPGA numbers to give out to new players? Where can I tell players to go to roll up a new character for Living Realms?

I am sure this information is somewhere but after looking through everything , I must've missed it.

Any help would be great!

As a new RPGA Herald DM

Congrats, and welcome to the club.

I want to jump in and start running events... but is there a start FAQ somewhere?

I don't think there's a concise FAQ anywhere, but we're happy to help you through any sanctioning issues you have. I'd suggest reviewing the "newcomers" section of the site - section 11 deals with downloading adventures. It's worth a read.

Where can I get the RPGA numbers to give out to new players?

You should receive a pack of numbers to give out in 6-8 weeks by mail to the adderss on file with the RPGA. Failing that rpgasanctioning@wizards.com or the customer service page can get you new numbers.

Be patient - it can sometimes take multiple requests to get a number.

Where can I tell players to go to roll up a new character for Living Realms?

LFR doesn't start until August, and launches at GenCon. The campaign standards aren't likely to be out until 2-3 weeks before that, however, so for now, sit tight and wait it out with the rest of us.

I am sure this information is somewhere but after looking through everything , I must've missed it.

Any help would be great!

Hope I've been helpful. Others may chip in with more information.

WolfStar76 has provided you with wonderful guidance. We are all kinda waiting in limbo until the LFR is available. One thing that we are doing is running the Undermountain Adventures, it is FR but NOT LFR. I will also be running the "H" series to fill the time and intro to 4E. I will begin running the "H" series in mid June and hope to have all the information about setting it in the FR by then.

By the way does anyone know how and when the test will change with 4E coming out? Just curious...

We've been told the test will be updated to 4E, however it's going to be assumed that judges who have already passed will be doing their part to stay up-to-date, so they won't be required to re-test.

I'm contemplating re-testing just for kicks (I'm kinda geeky like that), though. . . I should probably make sure I'm not gambling my Master-Level before I do. . . . just in case. ^_^

That is something I was thinking about as well but was worried about gambling with current status as well. I wonder how we can get an answer to that question. I would like to suggest that they provide access to the new test to those of us with current standings so that we can use them to confirm that we are understanding the new rules.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone and double thanks for the info...

Looks like I have some more reading to do before I can jump in and run my first event...

EDIT: Hmm maybe this is a goofy question, but I saw there are two adventures you can download for LFR... or is that something totally different that I was looking at?

Not a goofy question! Those are the modules which ran at D&D XP. They aren't really part of the Living Forgotten Realms campaign, but they are 4E adventures set in the Forgotten Realms so I guess it seemed like a good category to put them in! They come with six pre-generated characters and a set of quick-start rules, though as you can't (officially!) play them until 6th June, you'll be able to buy the books and generate your own characters and use the real rules instead.

Some people might have already played them - as well as D&D XP they've been used as preview adventures at some game stores and conventions since then. They are somewhat designed to be combat-heavy introductions to the rules, and have some very challenging encounters in them, but I thought they were fun, even if we did pretty much all die in both of them!

I have scheduled them to be run on the 7th for folks that want more than the mod the WotC will provide for D&D Game Game Day. Also because I sanctioned them the folks that have RPGA numbers can play through them and get points for them. Just an additional bonus for the day...

Again thanks for all the help!

There is a lot of info to digest on how to setup/run/keep score/promote RPGA adventures but here is hoping that I do it justice.
