2 sundays ago I attended a RPGA event. I was given a card to fill out and got to keep the stub (member card). We did the event and it was considered a one time trow away event (characters didn't get XP or rewards), but that we would get 4 RPGA points. We completed the event and was told the event would be entered in and we'd be able to activate our membership in a day or two. I've tried. I see all of the threads and info about the change in membership number format and all the 1's and 0's info. I've tried every way I know how to activate the number I was given and it keeps giving me the invalid number message. First off there isn't a easy way to find the activation page for registering new numbers. The only way I could find it is pretend to be a member and click sign in, then click the forgot password small link then read the fine print for the activate membership link. I'm not even sure this is where I need to be. Could someone post the right link for activation if I'm using the wrong one? So now I contact the DM and he says he was having a hard time inputting the event because of the changes to the system, and that when he gets it streightned out he'll let us know. Then I read some more info and people saying that new members given a card with 6 or 8 numbers will not be able to register it. So I'm wondering how hosed I am. 1) Did I loose 4 RPGA points due to a website issue? 2) If I attend another event and get another card will I be hosed out of another 4 points?

It took WoTC about 6 months to create my RPGA account.

After creating the account, you still have to go online to sign up for the rewards.

It's probably just hung up in the system.

And yes, I lost a lot of RPGA rewards points. Happens to many of us.

Hope your issue gets resolved quickly.

How long is the number on the card you have been given?

If it is not ten digits, then the card is useless, I'm afraid - the RPGA database has just moved to a new system and this new system can't accept older numbers, if the number didn't exist when the database transitioned. If you have a less-than-ten-digit number, contact the person who organised the game - they'll be tearing their hair out trying to report the event anyway (as this bug/problem wasn't something the database people were aware of, I don't think, so the information hasn't been widely disseminated to the RPGA membership yet).

If the number is ten-digits but there is no activation code, contact http://wizards.custhelp.com - though make sure that the event has been reported before you do that as there isn't anything they can do (I don't think) until the person who organised the game reports the event.

Finally, under the old system you had to sign up for RPGA player rewards separately. I do not know if that is still the case; once you can log into the system you'll be able to find out as you'll see a list of programs you're signed up for underneath a picture of a membership card; if one of them says D&D Rewards, then you can earn points. If it doesn't, ask here if a quick look round the system doesn't find the answer (this page might help, if you scroll to the bottom, though it might be out of date: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=rpga/rewards/welcome

In which case, whoever organised your event is probably scratching his head and cursing the new system. If you are in contact with him, tell him he can get new cards by emailing dci@wizards.com - they will work, or at least work better than the ones he's giving out at the moment, which will not work, at all, ever again, according to my latest information.

This transition is causing significant problems, as a cursory look round these forums will show! We're hoping that everything will be sorted out soon, but it appears that the fix needed to get the system to accept new numbers which are less than ten digits is either impossible or not worth the time it'd take, so those cards are now no-longer any use, unfortunately.

Ya! got it fixed. I'm a activated member now. Was not near as bad as I was reading here. I bet though our DM had something to do with it, but what a relief to get it resolved before my next event. Hope they get the new system hammered out and running smoothly before the DDI thing takes off and RPGA is flooded with new apps.

Rumor is we won't see most of D&Di until the end of the year, and the database is shaping up before our very eyes, so I'm with you in that hope, and believe it'll be fine in the very near future.

Glad you're up and running smoothly.
