| #1WolfStar76Jan 13, 2010 14:11:35 | Recently, there's been a change in the administration of LFR Global Administrators. Shawn Merwin, has decided to step down for personal reasons, and we thank him for the service and wonderful adventures he's shared with all of us over the years. Stepping up and taking over the reigns will be Dru Moore. Many of you are likely to be familiar with Dru's work - especially if you've sat in on the Dungeon Delve at the big shows like GenCon, DDXP, or Origins. Dru will be in charge of the regions of Akanul, Cormyr, Moonshae Isles, and Waterdeep, he's also going to continue his work on the DELVE line of games seen at Conventions. Hailing from Australia, Dru is still a regular at many of the big show conventions, and we look forward to many great things from Dru now that's he's part of the LFR Admin Team. You can contact Dru here on the forums as "AndrewDru". Please take a moment to welcome Dru to the team. Or take a potshot at him - he IS filling in for Shawn, after all. Someone has to be the butt of all our jokes. ;) |
| #2HerrbardJan 13, 2010 15:24:05 | Welcome Dru! I got to talk to Dru a little at Origins a few years back when I did a fill-in slot at the Delve. I look forward to the energy and dedication he seems to bring to the endeavor. I am sad to see Shawn go. As someone who I got to know a bit, he was always great to talk to, listened to ideas and gripes from players, and took the pot-shots from us all with grace and dignity. He was also a lot closer if I really wanted to get at him, Buffalo being much closer to Ohio than Australia. ![]() Fare well, my friend, and don't be a stranger. ![]() |
| #3trayburnJan 13, 2010 16:09:32 | Sorry to see Shawn go, he was a great guy. I hope we'll still see him at the various conventions, he's a great DM. Welcome Dru, you've got big boots to fill. |
| #4AlphastreamJan 13, 2010 16:51:32 | I would like to give some huge thanks to Shawn. He did a tremendous amount of work for this campaign. Working with him as my editor was a true pleasure. I apologize for consistently missing my deadlines by a few days and thank him for his great people, wrangling, and editorial skills. Hopefully he can join us and play LFR so we can thank him at the table and run SPEC1-2 for him (just the first half). ![]() Dru, welcome! Thanks for volunteering to be a part of this crazy thing we all love. I propose to everyone that we now let Shawn retire and blame SPEC1-2 on Dru. Dru, what were you thinking? (And, really, I think Shawn wears that mod as his albatross, instead of enjoying the many successes he had both directly and behind the scenes). Three cheers for Shawn! ![]() |
| #5dguerrieriJan 13, 2010 17:39:01 | Dru, Welcome aboard as a Global!! I remember spending a few minutes with you at a DDXP in Washington DC, after being sent to run the Dungeon delve on the spur of the moment. After running the Delve, and seeing the organization and skill sets used in that, I'm sure you will be very successful. I'm very happy to be able to work with you! If I can help you in any way, please feel free to contact me. Shawn, You will be missed. I've had the pleasure of knowing gaming Shawn Merwin since late 2001 I think, as he helped run a con in western NY i attended with my gaming group, and it was good times. He spent quite a bit of time as Keoland Triad, and created a great story, one which I stole from vigorously during my turn at Keoland Triad. I hope our gaming paths cross many more times!! I remember Shawn running one of his Core mods for us at the Winter Fantasy in New jersey so many years ago! Many of my gaming good times were the result of Shawn Merwin!! Good Luck Shawn, and I hope to see you at a table again soon! Dave Guerrieri, Cormyr Event Manager |
| #6Lord_DarquainJan 13, 2010 18:35:51 | Grats Dru! |
| #7tirianmalJan 14, 2010 9:26:06 | Well, I'm sorry to see Shawn go and he's got my thanks for all his hard work. Dru, congrats, condolences, welcome and gods I hope you know what you've gotten yourself into. ![]() |
| #8ibixatJan 15, 2010 5:47:45 | Shawn I hope this doesn't mean we won't see you around the cons anymore or that you'll stop authoring. I've enjoyed your adventures greatly, and your MYRE's at SibCon (or was it coscon, I always get them reversed) and the weekend in narfell were some of the most fun I've had at a table. Thanks for all the time you've invested in making our fun happen! |
| #9AlphastreamJan 15, 2010 10:11:57 | Shawn will be at D&DXP - a good opportunity to give him some accolades. He also wrote the SPEC2-1 H3 (7-10) adventure after another author dropped... over the holidays! (Technically, after he retired... good thing normal retirement packages don't include that deal!). His presence was also a big part of the SPEC2-1 for all tiers, with others (notably Sean, Keith and Claire) also making huge contributions towards the end. They all deserve beer or other celebratory beverages if you see them at D&DXP! |
| #10AndrewDruJan 15, 2010 12:52:33 | Hi All. |
| #11AlphastreamJan 15, 2010 13:25:54 | ps: In my first act of delegation, the 'Butt of All Jokes' title can now shift to global admin Sean Molley since phonetically he has the same name as Shawn. Good, noted. Sean, what were you thinking? |
| #12Dragon9Jan 15, 2010 22:42:38 | Technically, now that Dru is a Global Admin, shouldn't he be called Shawn as well? Or Sean. Or Shon. I think it's required, isn't it? |
| #13ibixatJan 16, 2010 0:27:14 | Technically, now that Dru is a Global Admin, shouldn't he be called Shawn as well? Or Sean. Or Shon. My Vote is for Zshon, the Z is silent. |
| #14Madfox11Jan 18, 2010 6:26:16 | We could go the way common in other big institutions and take another name once we become globals. Shawn II, Pieter III and so on ;) |
| #15Dragon9Jan 18, 2010 22:44:34 |
Except you spell it funny. Silly foreigners... ;) although you Americans also tend to use "My Gawd! You are tall", which usually works as well (just don't call me that Tall Dutch guy when I am traveling with 3 other Dutch guys each taller than 6"4"). How about we just call you Tulip? ![]() |
| #16ibixatJan 19, 2010 0:30:05 |
I've taken to just calling him things we can't say here =) after all I even have a cert from a mod that I have his Enmity! Maybe Dutch Prime. And then the rest of the Dutch contingient can be Dutch II - MCMXLII etc. Just like we are Stupid American 1-308,513,318 approximately. |
| #17imaginaryfriend.invJan 19, 2010 6:00:43 | I've taken to just calling him things we can't say here =) after all I even have a cert from a mod that I have his Enmity! Dutch II... No, I think the chances of that being acceptable are extremely small, but that may just be my ego speaking. Anyway.. While I will be using the chance at D&D XP to personally thank Shawn I would like to join the fray of accolades here and add my little "Thank you!". And Dru? I would congratulate you, but I know better. So my commiserations on the loss of lots of spare time and the impending loss of sanity and semblance of life. |
| #18Magicstar1Jan 19, 2010 10:34:32 | Dutch II... We can always make you 3 or 5 or 7 if you prefer that ;) And of course thanks Shawn for all the work and good luck on your new endeavours. Dru, we met once and I hope you'll use your enthusiasm in working as a Global. |
| #19Dragon9Jan 19, 2010 17:38:17 | How about Dutch 1/2? It's not so bad. Thanks to my ancestry, I'm Dutch 1/4. ![]() |
| #20gomeztooJan 20, 2010 2:51:30 | Technically, now that Dru is a Global Admin, shouldn't he be called Shawn as well? Or Sean. Or Shon. No, Dru should be called Bruce. Gomez, who is dutch and not tall at all. And whose actual name, at the roots, is Peter as well. |
