No event under "Event Reporting"

No matter how many RPGA events I set up, no event shows up for "Event reporting".

The events automatically set themselves to "Status: Not received" a day after the event.

What am I doing wrong?

Odd.

The system isn't doing today what it did yesterday.

I just set up a Home event for today, but whereas before I had a 'Cancel this event' option in the listing, that's not there, and it doesn't show up as available to report.

I'm going to leave it 24 hours and see what happens, but I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I think they must be tinkering with things - if it's not right tomorrow, I'll bug Ian about it.

Same effect today: Yesterday's home event automatically switched to "Status: Not received" without any chance to report it for me.

Ok seems I found out that this happens when I set up the event as "HOME" event. Tried to set up a convention and this works fine.

Well, mine also changed to 'not received'. Did you find out whether this is going to be fixed for Home events soon? I set up very few conventions/etc and would far rather use the home event option.

I'm having the same problems with home events.

I really hope so. I contacted DCI and Chris should be aware of the issues as well as I posted it on the Admin Mailinglist.

The list of bugs goes on (this is for D&D events only; didn't test the other DCI options):

If you select CONVENTION:
- While I'm able to set up conventions now there's still a bug where I get a "You need to add a session" error message even though I did add sessions/tables. Still quite buggy.
- If you dare to have LESS than 25 tables you can't report the event at all. This is a pain for smaller conventions (like in Europe). Please remove this requirement or set it to as low as 6 tables.
- You can't cancel out unused tables.
- You can't cancel the event in the EVENT REPORTING menu. It asks you to confirm that you want to cancel the event. You hit CONFIRM but it gives the error message "Please choose an event to report or cancel./ Please choose an event from the list" without deleting it. You can however delete it under the "MY EVENTS" table.

If you select HOME GAME or RETAIL:
- The event automatically sets itself to "Status: Not received". You are unable to report the event.
- You cannot delete the event under "MY EVENTS" (it gives you the option to do this for CONVENTION events only).

If you select GAME DAY:
- You can't select any adventures to host
- You cannot delete the event under "MY EVENTS" (while it gives you the option to do this for convention events)

Adventures:
WATER1-1 Heirloom is bugged. You can't select one of the campaign answers resulting in not being able to report the whole event (if you want to report the Waterdeep adventure as well).

Star Wars:
Someone mentioned that the system asked for gained gold (!) infos for star wars campaigns which sounds rather odd.

Good listing Matthias!

It appears that the Home/Retail issue is fixed - the events now show up in my listing correctly and on the event reporting page.

The system is now back online, and adventures (all of them, as far as I can tell) can now be added to Game Day events.

I have only gone so far as to see the list of adventures, so I can't tell if any reporting issues remain, though you still cannot cancel events from the Event Reporting page.

As of today, "Home" events can be cancelled but cannot be reported. It shows up as not reported, but no mechanism to report a Home game is apparent.

Never Mind. I'm still thinking old system. I noticed "Event Reporting", clicked on it, and was able to report my session.

I have four RETAIL events that I'd like to simply cancel, but I seem completely unable to do so.

When I cancel and confirm the cancellation, they still show up in my menu of reportable events.

Does the 'Cancel this event' check box under the event on the "My Events" listing work?

The Cancel option in the Event Reporting system hasn't worked since the system came online, as far as I've been able to tell, but the cancel checkbox has been working for me.

Isn't this fun? ;)

These events were in the past, so instead of "Cancel this event" I tried the "This Event Did Not Happen" checkbox.

No dice, however.

And. . . am I a masochist if I *do* think this is kinda fun? We're watching the evolution of the next step of RPGA ordering/reporting happen before our eyes.

It's not a pretty evolution, but we get to find the bugs and help make the interface a happier thing in the long run.

Perhaps I need to turn my optimism down a notch...

Sorry that didn't work.

It works for me with respect to home events. I don't have any past Game Days I want to cancel. I suppose I could cancel and reschedule my future Game Day as a test - I might try that later!

Sorry, but I have to disagree here. A company this size, with this many resources, rolls out changes that simply do not work. 10 days after the changes, it still does not work. This seems like the latest in a long line of companies that think product roll-out is just another name for beta-testing the software.

I have three events that are still waiting to be reported, as I do not want to chance losing player data for LFR. What must Dave C. be going through with all the events from GenCon waiting to be reported?

I love D&D, WotC, RPGA, etc., but they are batting .000 when it comes to any kind of online work. Luckily my Xendrik players had already finished that campaign and have recorded their info, as about 20% of their games have now disappeared.

Everyone keeps saying "be patient, they'll work it out." When it comes to anything online form WotC, the consumers have been nothing but patient for years. It still is not worked out.

Dan
(Still being patient, even if it seems like this rant went on too long...) :P

I think the only major change I would have made in this process (aside from waving a magic wand and having it all "just work" ;) ) is that it would have been REALLY nice to get advance notice this was coming.

I don't fault them for having bugs in the conversion process. All indicators are that whatever the old RPGA database was, it was held together with shoe-strings, bubble-gum, and changes were written on post-it notes and stuck to the outside, since nobody really knew how to program for it anymore.

Okay, I get that, I can see why we'd want to change to something being far more actively developed. I can see why with that kind of "birds nest" string of tangled code and data there would be problems in the conversion.

But. . . .I can't help but get the feeling that the decision to do this major/final part of the conversion should have been announced to the players (Okay, yes, Ian posted a couple months ago that some of this work was starting and was the cause of suspicious e-mails about canceled events). Things had been quiet for so long, I'd actually suspected that the conversion was all "back-end" conversion and was done.

A chance to poke around the new stuff before it went live would have been nice so we could help troubleshoot.

So, maybe I'm just too forgiving, but I don't fault their technical prowess (or lack thereof as the case may be). The only major fault I have is the "surprise" factor.

And you needn't explain your love of WotC/RPGA to me. I've seen your license plate. ^_^
