I didn't see my question addressed...

What's the word on the impending aberration invasion and subsequent enslaving of the known lands of the Realms?

I mean... wait. *waves hand* Nothing to see here, move along.

Okay, rules lawyers, here's my question.

For this magic item only, you may remove it from your list of found items and select another found item you have access to of equal or lesser value to the suit of veteran's armor you selected.

It says 'remove' and 'select' and NOT 'remove' and 'replace'. Does that mean that people who picked Veteran's Armor prior to February 1, just got a free Magic item which they get a slot back for? Or does that mean the person can pick any other item, but they still use the slot?

The wording is confusing me.

It says "select another found item". The way I read it, you don't get the slot back - you're just swapping out what's in that slot.

Any way you look at it, the slot is taken.

You may remove Veteran's Armor from your list of found items and immediately replace it with any other magic item you would normally have access to; this new item counts as a found item but takes over the space vacated by Veteran's Armor.

It's like swapping a dirty quarter for a shiny quarter.

Works for me. I have a specific 'quarter' I am interested in for my one character with Vet's Armor.

What if you purchased veteran's armor? This FAQ seems to only cover veteran's armor that's in a found item slot. All of the people I play with purchased their veteran's armor - none of us played any of the SPECs until after the update happened. Are those people stuck?

I would go with the spirit of the rules, here - due to the fact that the item went through an involuntary change, the player should not be penalized.

Jeffv, I would (and admins, please correct me here) give your PCs the option to either refund the gold completely or immediately swap for an item of the same level and cost.

Since no official record is kept for purchased magic items, I would think that you'd be able to handle this via your DM.
