Official Character Sheets Required?

Can anyone at HQ clarify whether RPGA sponsored events (like Living Forgotten Realms) require players to use the official D&D characters sheets, or may we use sheets of our own creation?

Thanks!

I'll note that, on page one of the RPGA Character Creation Guide, under "What You'll Need", it simply says: "A character sheet".  It does not say that you must use an official character sheet.

(However, I'm only a VCL, not an HQ person...it sounds like you have someone who's trying to be a stickler.)

Yes.  I've only run in to a problem with one guy & he's kind of **** about it.  But he runs at a lot of the local cons I attend, so...

The Wizards generate sheet isn't necessarily bad either.  I just like to have my info displayed a little differently.

Also, note that the character builder lets you heavily customize the output format of the character sheet. Though that doesn't really excuse this DM's behaviour. When does he even see your character sheet? I've been DMing LFR since March and I couldn't tell you whether or not my players are using the official character sheet.

There is no such requirement. The character sheet must be readable and understandable by the DM. I can see the DM asking for the books when dealing with odd powers, but demanding the use of the DDI generated character sheets? Odd...

And, there you go, Halleck.  Note Madfox11's title there on the left side. Smile

Thanks, guys.  Appreciate everyone weighing in.  Given that the character creation guide says that its fine to create your own tracking sheets, I figured creating your own character sheets would be fine too.  But its nice to know that lots of other people feel that way and that there is a bit of support from HQ.

Again, this is just one guy, he just happens to have a big mouth & attends a lot of the same stuff I do.  If I'm lucky, it will never be a problem again.
