(Aside: it seems all the discussion is going on at the LFR Yahoo group. This place seems deserted!)

My concern with this decision is this scenario:

* Major convention (Gencon, Origins, etc.). Mustering happens. At the end, there are seven players left, and only one available judge.
* They all have real tickets, because the convention organizers over-sold the event (yes, it happens more often than not.)
* Five players want to play together as a group. All of them have played the mod before.
* The other two have not played it yet, but one of them is now looking at getting left out altogether.

I realize this is a corner case, but the reply of "Oh, we can always find another judge" is not valid, as I have seen it happen too many times where there simply is not another judge to be found. (And I've been that "other judge" many times in the past. Hah!)

I can see this being an even bigger problem with local game days, as some folks keep trying to sign up for every available slot so all their characters play everything.

Other than this situation where folks who are trying to play the mod with every character shut out those who just want to play it once, I like the idea. No more eating mods that I judge? maybe I'll finally lose some weight! (Nah... :D )

Yeah, I'm coming around to the idea. It's just SO different.

Well if you look at it from a certain stand point. Playing the mod doesn't really help your character in 4th edition change things up enough to deal with a huge threat. Your still your character in combat, your still going to have to roll dice and hit things to be effective. You might get to save a daily power for something big, but that's only so much more powerful and a lot of people are saving daily powers for something big anyway.

If there's like a puzzle or something? Guess what, you've already played so the DM's probably not going to let you just spout out the answer, if you even remember it.

People playing more D&D is always a good thing. I'm a bit more worried about people ordering a mod for their group and then just running it multiple times with different DM's. That would get pretty dull though.

Is there a link/URL to that particular group available?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for posting a link to the Yahoo! Group. As I suspected, I was a member of that group. The best quote from that tumultuous discussion:
Really do we think there are that many idiots in our organization or do we just have that low of an opinion of our hobby in general?

None of the sharp-tongued posters took this particular quote and ran with it. They probably didn't, because sadly, the answer is yes to both questions.

There is also a huge thread about this on here in the LFR forum. It's been debating and argued in depth there. I suggest further discussion be moved to that thread instead of starting yet another thread. And the thread on the yahoo groups has been closed by the group admin.
