| #2Lord_DarquainOct 13, 2008 15:44:54 | I believe GenCon has not yet been reported due to these kinds of issues and I know DragonCon hasn't because of these specific issues and the sheer number of tables run. |
| #3kithranOct 14, 2008 13:22:17 | OK I was Senior DM for Gen Con UK and eventually reported it (over 150 tables) as four seperate events. Here's the advice I can offer that should help people deal with reporting issues: 1. Enter every single player and dm first - I basically went through each sheet entering all the players and the dm, converting RPGA numbers as needed. I saved rouhgly every half a dozen sheets. 2. Enter each table. General order choose scenario (refresh occurs), enter all GP, XP, Bundle choices and answer to questions, enter dm (refresh occurs), enter first player (refresh occurs), choose character, repeat for each player, choose story award for first player (refresh occurs if more than one award for adventure), choose next story award (again may refresh), repeat for each player. Save every one or two tables. I didn't bother minimizing the tables - to my mind that would just be another refresh and those are what really slow things down as the number of tables increases. Potential problems I encountered: You _must_ allow the page to fully refresh before entering more information - if you have entered a few tables and realise you have missed a couple of players out let the page refresh fully after the first has been added - I found out the hard way this can wipe out the information entered for some of the tables. If you have players who haven't created any characters the only option you have is 0-new character however if they have played two different games then the person ends up with two new characters. If you have players who have put down character 2 (or 3, 4 etc) but haven't created that character their only options are to choose 0-new character or record against the wrong character. Neither is ideal as you have no idea which character 0 will end up with if there are multiple tables where this needs to be done. People do not write legibly and do not know thier RPGA numbers (I had people put down different numbers for themselves on different sheets, people misconvert their numbers, though this time I didn't have anyone put down my number! (yes I had that happen once, how that happened given I wasn't on that table as a player or the dm I don;t know)) Kithran Luruar POC |

| #5kithranOct 15, 2008 5:43:28 | Im sorry but that is not the correct solution Yes but that takes time - the help I posted above will hopefully enable those who have run large events to report things without running into the same problems rather than waiting until something new is developed. | #6kajalOct 24, 2008 10:50:40 | I am the RPGA coordinator for a local game store here in the US, just reporting 4 sessions at a time can be a big headache, I can barely imagine what Dave at Gencon has to go through, and it has given me the ability to sympathize and just be patient, the deadline for the rewards has come and gone so lets all just be patient, enjoy the LFR campaign and keep bringing in new faces to enjoy it with us. | #8AlphastreamNov 05, 2008 14:08:16 | I'm helping with PAX reporting. It is every bit as brutal a process as has been described. I wonder if anyone knows Anyone James White's RPGA#? The number he used at PAX is invalid. Thanks, Teos |
| #9AlphastreamNov 12, 2008 14:47:24 | Great news! I just spoke to Robert, and between us we have finally entered and reported all PAX tables. It took a huge amount of effort. Many days of data entry took place. The final result is not perfect. There were two or three players (across many tables) for which the RPGA numbers provided did not match. We had to leave these players out. We had numerous cases where players had not maintained their PCs in the RPGA site, and thus when they played several tables they will get a new PC entry for each table played. (Please go to the RPGA site and maintain an entry for each of your PCs to avoid these issues. Any miss-reported entries will need to be corrected via an Appeal to DCI using the Appeal link in your RPGA page). I hope this comes with enough time for reward points and that this effort somehow helps both WotC/RPGA and players/judges learn some lessons towards preventing/fixing issues. On my end, this was a huge learning experience. I will never allow any table tracking form I see to be handed in without completely clear information. I will never fail to maintain my characters under my RPGA login. And I will have much more respect for anyone that had to do this! Teos |
| #1022_Over_7Nov 13, 2008 1:27:16 | So figure a couple of days before the results are live? |
| #11Madfox11Nov 13, 2008 8:59:21 | Actually, once an event has been reported it becomes live immediately. |
| #12AlphastreamNov 13, 2008 14:23:35 | Results are live now. If something is missing or incorrect you will need to contact CS, though I can look up information for you (I just can't fix anything now that the event is reported). Teos |
| #1322_Over_7Nov 13, 2008 21:27:01 | I must have been one of the poor unfortunate souls with screwed up RPGA #s, although I spoke to Robert about using my active DCI #...ah well. I will attempt to get this corrected. |
