| #1CorrinAvatanAug 02, 2009 16:59:02 | Hello, Before I begin, let me preface it with this: until last year when I moved to Saint Louis, I was never able to participate in a RPGA event, because every sanctioned event was usually 30-40 miles away, and I was most of that time without a car (not being old enough to drive was partially to blame). However, I have been DMing for years. Finally, I've registered with the RPGA, and have my players registered, and we're running an Eberron campaign, because, well, long story short we've been playing an Eberron game without me knowing about Eberron (I made a map of the world that bore striking similarities to Khorvaire, including where all the races predominantly live, lots of magical airships, even important NPCs belonging to "House D'Rano"... when I finally read an eberron book, it was like it was already there). My questions are the following: 1. My players (really only one in particular is vocal about it), want to get points from the RPGA, but I also have a story that I want to tell. Is it okay according to RPGA guidelines to "reflavor" official RPGA adventures to fit into my campaign, or do they need to be run exactly as they are printed? I would like to run officially sanctioned games so that they AND I can get points, but I don't want to have my game "interrupted" by modules that aren't sharing the same themes as what I was delving into with my game before we switched to Eberron. Can I re-skin the evil Underdark Faerun Drow in to members of the Order of the Emerald Claw with an enclave in the heart of Khyber, or are the official RPGA modules set in stone? 2. Is there a way to read the official RPGA modules? I feel stupid, but I can't find a list of them, and the only way I seem to be able to find anything out about them is to sanction a game for that module, then cancel it... isn't there some way to read these official adventures so I can see if I want to do them BEFORE I sanction my game? 3. If I don't run official RPGA modules, and have my game set up as a Home Game - Other, is it impossible for my players to get RPGA points? Thank you for your patience in helping me out with this, I have tried looking for answers myself, but unfortunately have only hit brick walls trying to get this taken care of by myself |

Your player can get the player reward once a year for keeping his contact info up to date on the RPGA member's site (http://webapp.wizards.com/personal.aspx). The only advantage which players get from playing official LFR adventures is the ability to progress their characters in that campaign. That can only be done if you are playing official LFR adventures, as written (with the minor adjustments permitted by the boiler-plate text at the front of every adventure read in conjunction with the text in the RPGA Character Creation Guidelines v1.9) If you want to tell your story, and play in Eberron, you can get GM points by sanctioning Home Game (Eberron) as the 'adventure' - and you'll get a reward twice a year if you run at least five sessions in each six-month period - but your players 'only' get the pleasure of playing D&D with you. 2) Unfortunately the only way to get official access to the LFR adventures is by creating an event where you say you're planning to run them. The blurbs are available in various places, including the official LFR site on www.wizards.com (click 'RPGA' - there's a page about the adventures with links to pdf listings of current and future adventures) and fan-sites such as www.lfr-oxford.oxif.org I hope that helps! - The answer to your edit is the same as the answer to question 1: player points no longer exist. |
