| #1bondrescuJan 20, 2009 16:23:04 | Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere but I have searched and not found anything addressing this specific question/concern. I just registered my first LFR character with the RPGA and was really surprised to see that they didn't ask for anything more than the character's name and character slot, and that only gold, xp, and treasure packages are kept track of. Nothing about class, race, or stats. I'm now left to wonder what's to stop a player from using one character in the RPGA who switches class/race/abilities from game to game as the player wishes. For example Battle Bob played last game as an Eladrin Wizard, but next week the party needs a defender so he redesigns Battle Bob as a Warforged Fighter, leaving only his gold, treasure and experience total untouched. Of course if the DM was the same person (which often times they're not in a big enough city) they could call the player on it. But if its a whole new party of players and a new DM, who would know the difference? Is there anything to stop this that I'm overlooking? Is it legal conduct, or is it simply an exploitable loophole in the RPGA's record keeping? |

Nothing's to stop them aside from personal honor. It isn't allowed in the rules, but the rules are more or less a "gentleman's agreement" that we'll all play by the same baseline rules. There isn't any auditing, and nobody is going to really check and see if you've altered your stats in illegal ways. That said, a DM can (if they see signs of blatent cheating) still have you removed from a table, as cheating is still against the rules. |
