Went to report an event with a new RPGA member and am getting an awesome Thing thats going to prevent me from reporting ... the Error is as follows

Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

Well, I didn't get that error when trying to report with a new player (that's a database error, I got a 'this number doesn't work' error).

However the long and short of it is that only currently active less-than-ten-digit RPGA numbers can be converted into new RPGA/DCI numbers. If the number hasn't been used yet, it won't work.

Apparently the following is going to find its way into an FAQ in the next few days:

Organizers can not use the older cards. Only cards with 10 digit numbers<br /> can be used to assign new numbers. Please request new cards by<br /> contacting dci@wizards.com letting us know how many cards you require.<br /> Please note that a pad of cards contain 25 new membership forms and<br /> attached membership cards.

Ah.

What's the number? Does it prompt you for a name, when you add it to the player list?

Well -- I know that the system was taking new numbers fine yesterday, because I did it myself.

What it wasn't doing was taking numbers which needed to be converted. Those weren't being accepted at all.

That's why I wondered what the number was -- was it ten digits on the new card? Or was it a shorter one? If it was a long number, it's a worrying problem. If it's a shorter one the 'solution' is to give the member a different, long, number!

From the conversation I had with Ian Richards trying to figure out what was going on, it seemed as if it was an unknown issue until I raised it. It took about half-an-hour of emails back and fore before he worked out the problem.

What I do if I have to join people up before I get new cards is to take full details of new members, including email addresses, then email (post?) them their cards once I get cards from the DCI. Yes, that might mean that events are late in being reported, but I doubt that this will be too big a problem.

Alternatively, I'm pretty sure that the system will accept any DCI card number, so if the player is already a DCI member, try using that number, and if you know of any game stores or DCI Tournament Organisers who have DCI cards spare you could see if they can give you some new cards/numbers and use those instead.

I think that there are RPGA-branded cards available, but my current understanding is that the DCI and RPGA are now the same thing when it comes to the database/membership, so a brand-new DCI card should work, if you can get your hands on some.

Thanks for having worked with Ian to work out the issue.

What you're describing is the best that I've come up with; I've made the request to DCI for new cards, and won't be surprised if they send me old ones. My gameday is at a store that runs Magic events. I've checked, with them, but their Magic events are non-DCI and they have no cards. So, I'll issue old RPGA cards, get contact info, and then straighten it out later. I've also contacted my regional PoC who was providing the same. Realistically, I don't see another option given the late awareness of the issue.

Thanks.
