| #1xidoravenApr 03, 2008 14:40:14 | Hello all, Whether we've spoken or not, it's been nice to meet you all. I'm Will (or 'xido'). I'd like to begin by changing the attitudes of these forums to a more productive and proactive methodology, specifically one which allows us to be creative and social, as opposed to Rules Nazis and Mythos Lords. I would like to know what you - as an RPGA member and/or Game Moderator/Storyteller - would like the RPGA and Wiki Fiction Roleplayers' Guild to discuss at BabelCon for this year's panel discussion. This means two things:
You can respond to this message, or you can email me. The email contact is xidoraven(a)gmail(dot)com in case you couldn't find it on my profile or signature. Why is this important? Well, if you're well-suited do doing things the same ol' way, then that's fine and you need not bother spending the electrical impulse to think about this topic. However, there is the distinct possibility that the Guild's panel will be a video-recorded session with a lot of fun times and humor, and your question may be spoken out loud with your username/name/alias on multinational online media. If that doesn't excite you, then you definitely have not been privy to the wonders of YouTube and the social havoc it seems to cause. A pleasurable experience, I assure you. If you're still not excited, something tells me that you've never been truly enlisted into the troops of nerds to come before you, the Trekkies and basement smelly-kids that established this fine order of geekdom that makes us all feel so special and gooshy inside... *squeels girlishly* The Guild may have its own recording of the event as well (for backup and supplemental gaming needs), and the digital media will most likely be hosted from BabelCon's page, and the Elftown Guild files. In case you need some suggestions for what you would like the members to discuss, these are some good ideas that I had already had or been told about:
I would love to know what else y'all had in mind, as well as what you and your friends think of these topics here. This is an OPEN DISCUSSION, so no bashing, and no being jerks! Every idea is a good one. If you have input for someone, say it but don't spray it. Thanks and best wishes, |
| #2xidoravenApr 21, 2008 5:17:25 | Apparently, I may have angered the Mythos Lords and Rules Nazis that I was bashing earlier. Sad, truly sad. However, I definitely expected a lot more interest in this discussion than this. With 94 views so far, this is obviously a good worthwhile topic, so why no replies? All I can guess is that no one knows me, wants to speak about this topic, or the world really is bad enough that geeks don't get together and geek it up anymore. That would be a terrible tragedy if ever I knew of one. Did I simply cover all the topics, or have I not given us all enough time to think about it? I asked the Guild Members what they thought, and the idea is that I should be showing up for this event in a costume of some form. What are your thoughts on this type of wackiness? Good idea, or completely detracting? Please, input! Discussion! We are the RPGA, speak your piece! |

Until this post I'd never heard of BabelCon, and I'm still now sure what this guild of yours is. Having checked the website for BabelCon, I see it's a local convention in Baton Rogue, LA. Keep in mind that these RPGA forums, for the WORLDWIDE population of RPGA players still only manages a handful (well under 25) posts a day for *global* topics (GenCon news, Origins news, Campaign Standards questions, etc). Reaction to a call for discussion about a small guild at a small con is going to get a (proportionally) smaller reaction. I see there's a forum for BabelCon (under the "discussion" button on the main page) - if you haven't already, post your questions there (where people attending are more likely to focus) and you'll likely see a better reaction. |
