| #1WickAug 13, 2008 20:11:46 | OK, now that we have this joint log in thing I am confused. I have a RPGA number but can't log in anymore. How do I convert this to a DCI number? Thanks |
| #2woodstockbrAug 13, 2008 22:09:26 | Your number must be with 8 digits or less. Add 100000000 to your number: Your number: xxxxxxxx New Login: 1xxxxxxxx |
| #3dblizzardAug 13, 2008 22:25:34 | Your number must be with 8 digits or less. Add 100000000 to your number: I did that, wouldn't log me in. I reset password, still won't let me in. |
| #4itarakoturoAug 14, 2008 0:59:50 | I did that, wouldn't log me in. I reset password, still won't let me in. Count the zeros. Your login may be old enough that you need to have '10' in front of your RPGA number instead of just '1'. |
| #5eleranAug 14, 2008 9:09:10 | Count the zeros. Your login may be old enough that you need to have '10' in front of your RPGA number instead of just '1'. I did that too since mine was shorter. It reset my password, sent me the new one and then I tried to login and still get a invalid credentials message So, the upshot is, I cant login to rpga right now and with GenCon startign this morning I doubt it will be available til at least Monday. |
| #6festivusAug 14, 2008 9:16:21 | Mine worked after adding a 10 to the front of my number and using my old RPGA password. Bad timing for this, right before GenCon to make a major system change... but I wonder if this has the new reporting features needed for LFR. |
| #7eleranAug 14, 2008 9:25:27 | Found my problem. I had the DCI # corect, but when I copied and pasted the new password from the email I caught an extra spce in the copy and it didnt like that. once I removed that space/character it logged me in. |
| #8markusdarkAug 14, 2008 14:34:08 | It's strange. I was able to make the change with adding the 10 and not having to change my password. However, when I go to my personal info page, the cards there have my DCI# listed as 210XXXXXXXX Also, when i click on the rewards program, I get sent to the Magic, the Gathering rewards program. |
| #9pedrAug 14, 2008 15:01:08 | I believe that there is a checkdigit at the start of DCI numbers, but it isn't actually needed - 210 and 10 are the same number. The logos are links to change the thing you're viewing to the various programme. |
| #10dblizzardAug 14, 2008 18:32:59 | Count the zeros. Your login may be old enough that you need to have '10' in front of your RPGA number instead of just '1'. Not the issue. I did the "reset password" again and it finally worked. |
| #11heiroduleAug 15, 2008 8:58:24 | I found that my old RPGA number didn't work at all, even with 100 added to it. But everything I have is under my DCI number from playing magic. Arrg. Everything except all my Xendrik convention play |
| #12tosta_dojenAug 22, 2008 10:31:46 | I can't log in anymore using my RPGA number. I get an "Invalid Credentials" error when I try. The login page does say, If you are an RPGA member and you had an RPGA number below 100000000, your DCI number is your RPGA number plus 100000000. Otherwise, your DCI number and RPGA numbers are the same. And since my number is above 100000000, it seems my DCI number is my new RPGA number. I can log in with that number, but when I do, none of my RPGA memberships show up, and I can't sanction anything. |
| #13WolfStar76Aug 22, 2008 10:50:30 | I can't log in anymore using my RPGA number. I get an "Invalid Credentials" error when I try. The login page does say, If your old RPGA# was over 100000000 (IE 41234xxxxx) use that number. If your old number was under 100000000 (IE 1234) add 100000000. (100001234) If neither of these is working you may need to reset your password via the "forgot password" link. You may also be able to contact customer service (http://wizards.custhelp.com) and ask them for help with your number, password, or even to ask them to merge your RPGA and DCI accounts (so you don't need to remember both going forward). ![]() |
| #14tosta_dojenAug 22, 2008 10:57:17 | If your old RPGA# was over 100000000 (IE 41234xxxxx) use that number. I tried that. It gives me an "Invalid Credentials" error. If neither of these is working you may need to reset your password via the "forgot password" link. I neglected to mention it above, but I tried that too, and I don't get the e-mail it's supposed to send me. You may also be able to contact customer service (http://wizards.custhelp.com) Well, maybe I could, if that page didn't cause my browser to stop responding. ![]() or even to ask them to merge your RPGA and DCI accounts (so you don't need to remember both going forward). Ask them to merge my accounts? I was under the impression that they were already merged if my RPGA number was greater than 100000000. ![]() |
| #15WolfStar76Aug 22, 2008 15:09:27 | Ask them to merge my accounts? I was under the impression that they were already merged if my RPGA number was greater than 100000000. Nope. When you got an RPGA number (mine was 986xxxx) you also got a DCI number (310986xxxx in my case). This is in NO WAY connected to any other DCI number you may have had. All RPGA numbers were also DCI numbers, they just had a differing "checksum" digit at the beginning (y10986xxxx). Since "Y" can equal 2, 3, or 4 (that I've seen, possible could be any digit) they allow the database to not use that first digit, and just take the "1xxxxxxxx" format instead. Case in point: I used to login 986xxxx Now I can login as 10986xxxx OR 310986xxxx. If I also had a DCI number from Magic or DDM, without a request to WotC, it would be a separate number (as they don't have any way of knowing to link the two until I request such). Personally, since I know my "full" RPGA/DCI number, I'm just going to use that on all my tracking forms from here out, if only so I fill up all the boxes on the tracking forms. ![]() |

This is in NO WAY connected to any other DCI number you may have had. OK, so what you're saying is that I've had an additional DCI number ever since I got my RPGA number. This second DCI number is not the same as either my RPGA number, or my original DCI number. And I have to use that DCI number to log in to my RPGA stuff now. Is that right? If I also had a DCI number from Magic or DDM, without a request to WotC, it would be a separate number (as they don't have any way of knowing to link the two until I request such). Well, they have my full name and address attached to both numbers; I thought merging them was what was meant by "your DCI number and RPGA numbers are the same." |

This second DCI number is not the same as either my RPGA number, or my original DCI number. And I have to use that DCI number to log in to my RPGA stuff now. Is that right? Sounds right to me. ![]() Well, they have my full name and address attached to both numbers; I thought merging them was what was meant by "your DCI number and RPGA numbers are the same." Well, they are. . . if you want to use your "new" RPGA/DCI number for events, since the two systems are now (functionally) the same. However, even having your name/address on both accounts, they're (wisely?) erring on the side of caution and not going to assume anything and start merging accounts all willy-nilly. After all, what if you and your son (daughter?) have the same first/last name? You live at the same address (depending on the theoretical child's age). If your accounts were merged that would be a Bad Thing(tm). ----- For a REAL mind-bender, try thinking about this: When RPGA/DCI were merged, there were probably two accounts both with the number 3333 (my made up number). Since they had to differentiate the difference between the 3333's, they had to change one of the sets of membership numbers. I submit that since they were adding the RPGA numbers into the DCI database, they decided to convert those RPGA numbers as they went. Now RPGA3333 became y100003333 so that it could be kept separate from DCI3333. Since they're both the same database now, however, once your accounts are merged, I'd be willing to bet you could use your "less-than-9-digits" DCI number on RPGA tracking forms. (because all RPGA numbers are now 9+ digits). It further would follow that DCI3333 is now the "new" RPGA3333 as well - having that number for both systems (since OLD_RPGA3333 is now y100003333). |
| #18tosta_dojenAug 22, 2008 15:48:12 | Sounds right to me. OK, great. Now how do I find out what this mysterious number is? If I'm reading the directions right, it should be the same as my RPGA number, only that isn't working. I'm having trouble following everything you're saying about check digits. After all, what if you and your son (daughter?) have the same first/last name? You live at the same address (depending on the theoretical child's age). If your accounts were merged that would be a Bad Thing(tm). Good point. The instructions still aren't very clear. |
| #19pedrAug 22, 2008 23:53:59 | You should be able to log in with your converted number which in your case is the same as your unconverted number. The information about the ten-digit number is interesting, but doesn't help you as if the nine-digit number doesn't work, the ten-digit one won't either! If you have filled in the 'Forgot Password' form, your password will have been changed, so you will not be able to log-in until you know the new (random) password. If you didn't receive the email the only way you're going to get into the system is to contact Customer Services. I realise you probably did, but make sure you check your spam folders in case your email system diverted the automated email. If you can't get the http://wizards.custhelp.com system to work, I'd try a different browser. If that doesn't work, I'd try a different computer. I've not heard of any problems, but sometimes browser installations or set-ups react oddly with complicated websites like that one. Alternatively you can contact customer services by phone, apparently: Call us at 1-800-324-6496 if in the US or Canada. Call us at 425-204-8069 if you are outside of North America. Our Customer Service contact center is available to handle your phone call or email When you contact customer services, be as specific as you can. They are probably getting a lot of 'I can't log in' requests, and their default answer will probably be the same as ours. Your first problem is actually that you don't know what your password is and didn't receive the 'New Password' email. They should be able to make sure that your password on the system is correct so that you can at least try again! If I understand you correctly, you have an RPGA account and a DCI account. If that's true, one alternative option for you would be to ask customer services to merge your RPGA account (which you can't log into) into your DCI account, which you can log into but which contains no RPGA information. They can do that; you then discard your RPGA number and use your DCI number from now on for both types of organised play activity. This is a frustrating process - and there are lots of transitional problems. Hopefully it'll be sorted out soon-ish, but as far as I know there's no system-wide bug stopping you getting access, so customer services should be able to get you into the system sooner or later! Let us know how things go for you! |
| #20Fundin_StrongarmAug 23, 2008 6:33:20 | After requesting a merge of my RPGA and DCI numbers, they were merged today. Now I'm just waiting for the GenCon roleplay sessions to be added for my characters. |
| #21WolfStar76Aug 23, 2008 7:16:20 | OK, great. Now how do I find out what this mysterious number is? If I'm reading the directions right, it should be the same as my RPGA number, only that isn't working. If you'd like me to "check your math" feel free to PM me your RPGA number and I'll be happy to tell you what it *should* be now. That may or may not solve the problem, however, as I had to request a password reset when my account was converted. If you're not getting the e-mails for that reset, that would mean you have an old e-mail address on your account (probably - I suppose it's possible the conversion "ate" that too). In which case you'd need to contact customer service. If that's locking up your computer when you try. . . well. . . ouch. I have an account with customer service, and I could *try* to file a help request on your behalf, with a link to this thread, etc just to try and prove that I'm not attempting to hijack your account, etc etc. I have one more ace in the hole if that doesn't work. I'm having trouble following everything you're saying about check digits. Don't worry about that part, it was an exercise in theoretical effects of the databases being merged. If it doesn't make sense. . . well. . . I'm not very good at explaining semi-complicated processes. ![]() Good point. The instructions still aren't very clear. Yeah, but my offer to help still stands, post or PM your RPGA number and I'll be glad to double-check stuff for you. |
| #22MirtekAug 24, 2008 14:58:55 | I have a question about the new numbers: I used to have a 6 digit RPGA number. Now I added a 100 in front of the original 6 digits and I could log in with the 100xxxxxx number. After having loged in the virtual DCI card shows my number as 3100xxxxxx. Is the extra 3 now also part of my number? Which number should I use for events: 3100xxxxxx or 100xxxxxx? |
| #23WolfStar76Aug 25, 2008 5:51:46 | I have a question about the new numbers: The 3 is an extra checksum digit DCI added to your membership. The number is valid (for the RPGA) with or without it, so pick your preference. Personally, I'm using my 310xxxxxxx number, just so I can fill in all the spots on the RPGA tracking forms. |
| #24tosta_dojenAug 28, 2008 19:46:16 | OK, so I finally was able to contact customer service. It seems that as part of the great database merge, my password was changed without my knowledge. I couldn't reset my password since I had an old e-mail address listed for this account. CS was able to reset the password and send it to me, but not before I left for a long weekend with family. We were able to run some D&D...but not sanctioned. ![]() If passwords are being changed, I think that's the sort of thing people need to know about up front when they try to log in. |

I don't know if the system reverted to the old default password or just to a previous password that may have been used, but it was kinda lame to have to get it reset. Ahwell. Here's hoping for better communication in the future. ![]() |
