Will the RPGA have a presence in DDI? Will we run sanctioned games? This is an amazing chance for the RPGA to both expand membership, and really get some great game experiences in! What are the plans?

There was some discussion of this in the LFR forum (Source).

Basically - it sounds like the LFR Admins want to do as much aspossible to make running modules a breeze. If they can find a way to easily integrate with DDI to do so, they will.

That said, keeping in mind that the RPGA is a (mostly) volunteer organization, I won't be at ALL surprised if we, the people/members don't come up with our own ways to adapt modules, make maps, and simplify the process (assuming that we don't overstep boundaries such as distribution that cause the RPGA problems).

Or. . . put simply. The RPGA will try, and if they don't/can't, we the players almost certainly will.

I really hope so. It seems the perfect opportunity. How do we Jog the Powers that Be to let them know we are interested in helping in this avenue? Id love to see Living campaigns played online. Or at the very least, some RPGA sanctioned games.

Well. . . making interest known to your regional admins would be a great first step. Tapping the Global Admins couldn't hurt either. You could also contact WotC Customer Service with your opinions, and they'll pass them up to the chain (to Chris or Ian).

The Living Forgotten Realms campaign will make as much use of DDI as we can. We want to be careful, however, to make sure that a subscription to DDI is not REQUIRED to play RPGA events.

Online play will be supported, of course. Online play will be facilitated to the best of our ability.

. . . or you could just wait for the Global Admins to read your thread and reply themselves.

Thanks for the info, Shawn. :D

What Can I do to get involved? And are we going to do anything resembling a "Living Points of Light?"
Thanks for the info!

The next RPGA campaign is Living Forgotten Realms, and it premiers at GenCon (at least, that's the current plan - GenCon has its own legal issues that may or may not change this, but that's another topic and another can of worms).

Until the campaign starts, there's sadly little we the players can really do - beyond spreading the word to other potential players.

I suppose we could create a mailing list to facilitate organizing online games and the like.

Maybe I'll create a Yahoo group if people are interested and the Admins don't object?

What can I do to get involved?

Right now, the best thing to do is keep an eye on the WotC site and these forums. Several Yahoo groups have been created for the different Living Forgotten Realms regions, and people here can point you to those. Lots of lively discussion takes place there.

As soon as the campaign gets closer to launch, we will release information on different areas where we could use help. The campaign is set to launch in August, so hang in there.

Another good thing to do is get in as much 4e play/DMing as possible as soon as possible. For example, after 4e is released many of the people in charge of adventures will be looking for writers to contribute. Part of the process of trying to get a gig writing content will be proving your mad 4e rules-fu. It might be something like this: submit 2 encounters, with one being an encounter featuring a MM monster, another MM creature altered by a template, and another monster of your own design. The second encounter might be a skill challenge formatted as per the DMG.

Obviously, people who have talent but do not know how to format things properly aren't going to get a callback, so getting as much 4e knowledge as possible will benefit those people looking to contribute to the campaign in any capacity, but especially in a capacity that deals with the rules.

I hope that helps.
