I'm going to start up a new campaign with some friends, and I want to use the Dawn of Defiance Campaign. I have a question about the XP awards.

In the write ups for the encounters, it gives a Challenge Level for the overall encounter, but there are also Challenge Levels for each enemy in the encounters. So, I'm wondering, am I only supposed to award the Encounter Challenge Level XP, only the Enemy Challenge Levels XP, or both.

I don't want to give too many XP and have them advance too quickly through the adventures, but I also don't go too slow either. I assume there's a standard for this, but I just don't know what it is.

Thanks.

I'm in the middle of playing through DoD, so I haven't seen the actual adventures, but...

As I understand it, each adventure is meant to advance the characters by 2 levels (since the first adventure is for 1st-level PCs, the second adventure for 3rd-level PCs, etc.).  So, rather than trying to exactly determine XP awards encounter-by-encounter for these, I think it'd be perfectly acceptable to just say, at a certain midpoint of each adventure, "hey, you leveled", and do the same at the end of each adventure.

BTW, if you can, you might want to change the title of this thread...it's not terribly descriptive of your particular question.  Also, since DoD is not an RPGA-exclusive set of adventures, you might want to also post your question in the SW forum; you may get more replies there.

Him posting here is probably my mistake. I directed him here from the Generic 4E boards (or was it the DMs boards?). I should have remembered the Star Wars boards. Sorry. Then again, you did gave him the answer Kenobi65 ;)
