RPGA Online Problems

Hey there people.

I've been thinking about playing in the LFR, but have been having a couple of problems.

The first is I don't know if I need to "rejoin" the RPGA. I have an old Fellowship card from something like 1997 (via GenCon AD&D Open). Do I need another membership? Also when I try to enter it via the site, it says I need a password. No idea what my password is supposed to be.

The second is when I try to search for events on the search page, I don't get any info. I know there are local events as I've seen them listed on my LGS website. I'm in the Twin Cities area (Minneapolis/Saint Paul, MN, USA). I also attend several cons every year and would like to do some searches in that regard, but nothing ever seems to show up. Even the game store search via Wizards page doesn't turn up anything. I'm probably doing something wrong, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well, I don't know if this trick still works but a couple of years ago, once you had a valid RPGA number, you could first login to your RPGA account online with a "magic password" :D This default password were even shown on the login screen. Obviously after your first login you could change your password to anything you wanted. Now the magic password back in the day was this: "WA98055" (without the quotes ofc). I dunno if this still works or not, but it might worth a try. If it doesn't work, you might somehow need to contact RPGA and request a password from them.

Well, dunno if you've did it this way, but:
1. Go to the website http://locator.wizards.com
2. Click on the "Play" button above the search box and enter your city like so: Minneapolis, MN
3. Under the search box there is a games listing. You can remove the ticks off those games you are not interested in, thereby you can exclude for example Magic the Gathering event offerings if you are not interested in those.
4. Now click on "Get Map" and after a few seconds the magnificent Google map app will update the map on the right and several purple "balloons" will light up all over the map of Minneapolis. Be happy for the fact you have so many options to choose from. :D If I do such a search on my hometown of Szekesfehervar, Hungary, I got no results whatsoever.
5. Anyway click on any of those balloons on the map to see what events are coming up in the near future at that location.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Oh, and one more thing. You might want to check this:
http://tinsoldier.com.au/forum/index.php?topic=190.0

Relevant info quoted below:
Your old RPGA number is still part of the new number but needs to be converted to a 9-digit number to log in. Follow these steps and you should be good to go!

To convert your RPGA number to a 9-digit number, you need to add a combination of a 1 and/or 0s.

Examples:

If your RPGA number is currently 123456 (6 digits), please add '100' to the front, becoming 100123456. This is your new membership number.
If your RPGA number is currently 12345678 (8 digits), please add only a '1' to the front, becoming 112345678. This is your new membership number.
Once into your account, you may notice that it lists a 10-digit number. We recommend you print and keep the online card so you can use that 10-digit or the converted 9-digit number from this point on. Both will work for all interaction with the RPGA. Note that use of unconverted numbers will not work from this point on.

Failing all else, contact Customer Service with as much info as possible, and they should be able to look you up, give you your number, and if needed reset any password(s) on your account.

Added bonus: Anyone with an up-to-date copy of DCI Reporter can also look up your DCI/RPGA/WPN number (I tested it with my own information).

Hey guys and gals.

My RPGA # is 436104.

I've never done anything with it online though, and apparently I need a "password" to access that part. Do I need to email someone to get the password? I get the add 100 bit, but I still can't figured the password part out.

But then again, I am a walking, rotting meatsack, so...

Zombus, if you're looking for RPGA events in the Twin Cities, we've got a yahoo group, and hold events at a few different stores.
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/lfr_tcmn/

We use Warhorn to sign up for games ('though we also have quite a few more drop in). The two most relevant are:
http://www.warhorn.org/TheSourceLFR/
http://www.warhorn.org/MonsterDenLFR/

We're actually going to be playing at the Source tomorrow (the 16th), skip a week for the MMII day, and then again on the 30th.

Hope to see you around!
