| #1bruntfcaSep 17, 2009 17:21:11 | Hi, duff links. The "Events Calendar " Duff ! events.wizards.com/rpgaweb/external/cale... Duff "sign on" membership page even! events.wizards.com/rpgaweb/external/sign... There's more, I can't be bothered to list them all. I've also joined DND insider and created a whole "facebooky" profile. Now I feel pretty exhausted to be honest WotC are sure making it hard to get interested this hobby. This is not a flame. I downloaded the quick start manual some weeks ago and was impressed, so clearly some areas of the site are working very well. However, as a genuine outsider, but someone who wants to get into the hobby, moreover, I don't think WotC have any idea how much hassle it is and how confusing all the different acronyms and various vague sounding books are, for example; Dragon Table of contents scrolls for articles scroll though a tiny window why? Also How about a simple sub-title "Magazine for Players". How am I supposed to know what "Graefmotte" means, what is the article is about? Do you expect me to click on each of the 100s of tiny links, then back, next link etc. Clearly WotC need to understand that what works in a paper medium, a quick flick though, does not work online, and putting all the links in a tiny window, about 1 inch square on my 28 inch screen makes it even worse. Titles like "Arcane Power". How about a clear subtitle (Part of Players reference) I'm sure there will be some members inside the community who will just "lol", at how "stupid" I am; all I can say is that for an outsider, there's just a barrage of information, a lot of it not clearly referenced, and the crem de la crem would have to be the duff RPGA pages. While trying to emphasize the community, why neglect the RPGA pages so much that you've duff links from the main page, and make it almost impossible to actually join! For those that don't believe, imagine that you are a totally new player, want to know more about RPGA (assuming you can even work out what it stands for...yet another google search). Type in RPGA from the WotC search next to your DnD Insider Log in, from the Main Page...it takes you to the duff 2003 website. Even if you click on RPGA from the index on the left from the Main Page....it takes you straight to the 2003 webpage with all the duff links. Do WoTC have any idea how unprofessional it makes the site look to have dead links from your main pages? Not to mention the extreme frustration is causes to newer potential players such as myself who are actually looking to join the game. Can someone at WotC please do something about these issues? Incidentally the quick start material is superb and of a very high standard, however, once you dig deeper, as a new player I just find myself in a morass of confusion. |
