| #1jstgtpaidAug 19, 2008 17:58:58 | I am new to the RPGA. I have a few questions about the RPGA site. I recently played in an adventure online as a home game. Our DM took our information and such and reported our results. I was wondering how do I check my results online? I have logged into the RPGA site and can see my membership. I have done a search for events and using the 4e D&D icon but nothing comes up. In addition, I don't see any links for looking at my various characters in play. Are my character details tracked on the site (possessions, stats, skills, xp, etc)? Also, I took and passed the test for being a GM. How do I download adventures to play? Do I have to setup an event and at some point during the setup the download option becomes available? Lastly, I seem to have tons of questions about the site and very few answers. I have looked in numerous places for answers to what I think are basic usability questions. Is there any documentation on how to use the RPGA member site that I have missed? Thanks in advance, Steven |

This is causing some significant problems, as you might have noticed from the comments and complaints on these boards! It would help to know which campaign (if any) you were playing. Each of the campaigns has a different system for tracking, and only one (Xen'drik Expeditions) makes the online system 'definitive'. Even that can't really rely on the system to that extent right at the moment, due to the major database issues. The new system does not (currently) list participation in the way the old one did, and so essentially the answer to your question about results is: don't bother looking right now. Even at its most involved, all the system will tell you is how much gold your character has, what level it is, and which certificates/story objects/awards you have received. Everything else is tracked on paper, and paper trumps the online system in every campaign except Xen'drik Expeditions. Each campaign has a set of rules or guidelines which explains how it works - we can point you to the right one if you let us know what you played! As to the second point, see this article: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=rpga/news/20080813 The system is a little odd, but it's worth having a 'play' then coming back and asking more questions. There are some major oddities which you'll need to know at some point, but that can wait! The essentials are that you create an 'event' at which RPGA scenarios are run. If you make that a Home event, the details will be kept private; other types of events show up in a public listing. You then select the scenarios you want to run, download them (instructions in the email the system should send you once you've created the event), run the event, then report who played (and more information for some campaigns). The download will contain a tracking form - you needn't actually fill it in if you're the one reporting, but it will show you the data you'll need to input. I hope that helps a little - documentation on the system is limited, so the best way to figure it out is to try, and ask questions when you're stuck, so feel free to come back with your next batch! |

The interface does seem to have changed. I joined a while back, but only played recently. I thought when I logged on previously (in February or March) there was a character tracking element (maybe that was the last version you spoke of?) How long are database issues expected to persist? |

| #5jstgtpaidAug 21, 2008 14:50:57 | Today, I got an email indicating that my player was added. Now I have a few more menu options; one of which is my character. Mind you there is very little information there. It shows how much hold my 'default' character has, but that is about it. I was hoping it would at least track magic items and such, but no such luck. I am happy with what I got though... |
| #6cephmeAug 23, 2008 0:33:45 | how did you request to have your player added. I have a LFR game tomorrow and my DM asked me to add my character, but I can not find a link in my links referring to creating a character. How do I get to that page. Link please |
| #7pedrAug 23, 2008 0:55:38 | Try emailing rpgasanctioning@wizards.com - some people have reported that this is the email that gets things done. I wouldn't expect it to happen by tomorrow, but there is no need to create a character on the website before you play. There's some indication that things work more smoothly if you create one before the event is reported - so ask whoever is running the event to delay reporting until you have things sorted. My usual advice is for people to contact http://wizards.custhelp.com and they can probably give some information though I've heard that people are being directed to rpgasanctioning@wizards.com |
