RPGA Site Issues

I won't comment on how less-than-friendly it is to force a membership number change on us, especially without warning. I have only had my number for about a year, and had multiple issues with it already during that time, so changing it doesn't encourage me on that end...

Firefox. When I go to the login page with Firefox, it puts the logo overlapping the password window, and it doesn't even HAVE a window to enter my RPGA number.

I hate, positively HATE, having to use Internet Explorer, especially since I only have it setup to go to a work page, and not a fast one, so it ain't user-friendly there.

And, of course, I had to reset my password to get in, even with the correct number.

As others have mentioned, it has moved my events to places all over the world, instead of all being fairly local, like they originally were.

I had already been having trouble with games being listed for me that I was never in, and other games, that I was in, not being listed. Sent in a message on those, quite some time back, and never heard anything from the RPGA on that.

The lack of instruction doesn't help, especially since it defaults to Magic instead of D&D, and my long ago Magic events are under a different number...

The error messages are not properly managed when they show up, and aren't very informative, both distorting the interface and leaving me going "Huh?" for what went wrong.

It was very ... weird ... when I entered my group's Star Wars game to have to enter XP and Gold numbers. SWSE doesn't HAVE gold, for one thing, and, since we ended the session early due to other issues, no XP had been calculated out...

Just not, overall, a pleasant experience.

And, FYI, I am an experienced computer user (owned computers since 1983), and currently work as part of a computer technical support department, so I am fairly knowledgeable about computers.

I'll not disagree with complaints about interface design. It's pretty eccentric, to say the least!

However I'm using Firefox without any trouble logging in (once I got my password reset and created one with both letters and numbers).

There are some major problems - notably one with reporting events which new members played in, i.e. entering as-yet-nonexistent numbers into the system, and significant work needed on the character tracker. But the RPGA interface has always been odd. This is also odd, but works nearly as well as the old one, and has some advantages - the ability to cancel events, and the ability to sanction events on the day that they're played rather than having a five-day or two-week lead-time are both useful.

Well, just double-checked. Screen comes up with no ID number slot, the logo overlapping the password slot, and the bottom band offset, so it actually shows the curved part back-to-back with the curved part.

Nothing happens when I click on the language drop-down, and the only way to move around is using tab, and it doesn't seem to go into certain fields properly.

Just, not fun...

I'm logging in and using the website without any trouble on firefox. Haven't had issues with this website ever because of it. Check your add-ons, maybe something is messing up? Are you using the latest version?

I am also getting the exact same issue on the login page when I try it from work, using the company-mandated Internet Explorer version 6 browser.

Probably at this stage, "try again later".

One can question the wisdom of making this transition immediately before a) the launch of a much-awaited new campaign and b) the holding of most of the largest RPGA conventions in the year (GenCon Indy, PAX, Dragon*Con, GenCon UK all occur within the next two weeks, I think!)#

However things are changing as they work out problems, so I imagine that it'll be fixed at some point!
