I recieved a RPGA card a long time ago when I passed a 3.0 or 3.5 DM test. I went to my first 4.0 game, and since I didn't have my card on me, my DM gave me a DCI card. What is the differance, and is this usual?

I passed the 4.0 test, which seemed too easy. Is it just me, or was it much easier than the older tests?

Also, how can I get a plastic card?

DCI is the equivalent of the RPGA for WotC's card games, primarily Magic. WotC merged the DCI and RPGA systems this past summer, and a DCI number functions just as well as an RPGA number for playing RPGA games now. As the DCI membership "application" cards are easier to activate in the database than the RPGA membership applications, it seems like the default has become giving everyone DCI cards now.

Your old RPGA number is still active, though you may need to add some additional numbers to it now to make it "fit" in the merged system -- if your RPGA number had fewer than 9 digits to it, you need to add a "1", then possibly one or more "0"s, to the front of an older RPGA number, until it has at least 9 digits. For example, if your old RPGA number was 788888 (6 digits), it's now 100788888.

If you care, you can ask WotC customer service to merge your (new) DCI number with your old RPGA number.
