| #1breten4Jun 22, 2009 23:33:10 | Why is the RPGA pages still so outdated? When I went to look up information it still had info on 3.5, old campaigns that don't run anymore, and it was very confusing. To make things worse when I registered my DCI number to play in LFR I now show up as "unknown unknown" and when I went to update my information it only allows me to tell my province and birthdate.... I have become a herald level DM but can't schedule games because the system doesn't have my address. But I can't update my address. When I clicked on the help and email us tabs i kept getting a message that says a technical error has occurred and I should close my browser and try again. |
| #2pedrJun 23, 2009 4:52:46 | I can point you to the solution for the final problem. It's a result of some corruption in the WotC site user database that they can only fix on an account-by-account basis. This thread contains the two steps to get a solution: http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1133626 On the other technical problem, you should be able to put your province and date of birth then, on the next screen, enter all of your personal info. However Wizards customer service can access the database directly, so if that's not working, getting in touch with them will get it sorted. There's a phone number on www.wizards.com/customerservice (click 'How to contact us' or some such), but emails are answered promptly, and the CS staff monitoring the thread I've linked are getting accounts fixed. I can't answer the first issue, of course, though we've been promised a new website on many occasions. The latest promise is that it'll happen sometime this summer/autumn, I think! |
| #3forge0169Jun 24, 2009 8:42:59 | I hope they update it soon. Several of the new players I have signed up have nothing but bad things to say about the RPGA website. Many of them refuse to deal with it which leaves me to do all the DMing and organizing since they want nothing to do with the mess that is there. How can the RPGA/WPN want to get new players and DMs involved and not have an easy to use and informative web site that dosen't require people to come on the forums to try to figure it out. I'd perfer they scrap the whole website and start from scratch over the mess they have now. |
| #4pedrJun 24, 2009 9:04:15 | The website may have out-of-date pages, but the ordering/reporting system is, while not anywhere near perfect, entirely usable and does actually make sense if you read what it says. The visual guides available here: http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=16699800&postcount=2 and here: http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=16699800&postcount=3 Besides, the organiser doesn't have to be the GM - you can organise games, give the adventure to someone else, play in the adventure, then report it afterwards. |

This is an important point, not to be overlooked. If your friends don't mind DMing - and their sole objection is the website, you can still be the organizer but let them DM. You'd simply order/sanction the game - then hand the module and reporting information over to whomever is DMing that session. They can then hand the paperwork back to you at the end of the session and you report it. It means you're still doing all the overhead - but they can take over the occasional table for you. ![]() |

| #7Morik_TraskJul 02, 2009 9:41:09 | yeah, I can't organize a public event. When I try to to, it says: There is a problem with your request. Most likely you are not a coordinator for this brand or you have no public venues on file. Please contact your WPN representative for assistance. I am a coordinator, so how do I put a public venue on file? |
| #8pedrJul 02, 2009 10:51:27 | You need to fill in this form: http://wizards.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wizards.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php?p_prods=1005,1021,1074,1128 If clicking that gives you an error, see this thread: http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1133626 Your venue should be added in a matter of days. If a week goes by without it getting done, use the Email Us tab at www.wizards.com/customerservice to ask for a status update. |
| #9amysrevengeJul 02, 2009 14:11:52 | Your venue should be added in a matter of days. If a week goes by without it getting done, use the Email Us tab at www.wizards.com/customerservice to ask for a status update. From personal experience, any problems will be dealt with by quietly denying your application without communication - if there are any questions about your venue and you get denied, the only way you'll know is by not being approved. :P The gist of my conversation: Me: "Hey, I sent in an app for a venue approval about 10 days ago. Still not showing up. What gives" WotC Rep: "Oh. Your venue was unusual. We had some questions about it, so we just denied the application." Me: "... Usually the questions that get answered are the ones that are actually asked. Anyway, here's some clarification about my venue." WotC Rep: "Sure, no problem. Approved." |
| #10pedrJul 02, 2009 14:32:22 | That's clearly entirely unhelpful - it might be useful to send in something in the nature of a complaint about that - it can't be how the system's supposed to work, and I doubt that Chris, Ian, et al want that to be standard procedure. I imagine the only way to complain is via the Customer Service system but it can't hurt to email them and say "Hang on, can you tell me what's changed to make sure this doesn't happen in future?" |
| #11amysrevengeJul 02, 2009 14:57:29 | To give the benefit of the doubt - it could have been an oversight in my case. Easy enough to forget to email someone, or misremember and think you already did, or something. |

Easy enough to forget to email someone, or misremember and think you already did, or something. I'm with this - I'd suspect that: 1) The venue was "ususual" 2) The ticket was put on "hold" 3) Customer Service attempted to contact the venue to work out the oddities 4) The venue didn't reply (or didn't get the message) 5) The issue died there. Still not an ideal situation - but a plausible one. |
