I know David C. will probably be the contact person, but I was wanting more personal responses. My main questions are: How many hours to be comped a badge? How many hours to be comped a hotel room? When is the reimbursement for those items? |

You need to run 7 slots to get a bed to sleep on. That's (roughly) 35 hours. There are 10 total RPGA slots at the show Thursday thru Sunday. If you signup to judge you will be given your hotel confirmation about a week before the show. Your badge will be waiting at RPGA HQ in the Sagamore Ballroom sometime lateish Wednesday night (like 7 to 9 pm usually). If you've already purchased a badge - you will end up with two badges. The one you bought, and the RPGA badge. When we hand you your RPGA badge you will need to get a refund (immediately) for the purchased badge. If you wait a day or two, GenCon won't refund it because you may have been letting your best friend borrow it for two days. I think that covers most of the basics. Oh - for every 2 slots you run, you earn 1 hardback book off the swag table Saturday night. That should be the basics. |

Correct me if I'm mistaken, WS, but, as I understand it, that means that they don't pay for the hotel room that you may have already reserved. They've got hotel rooms for judges, and, if you qualify for "a bed" (by judging enough slots), you get assigned to a judge room, which you share with other judges. (Just wanted to clarify, because the OP asked, "How many hours to be comped a hotel room?", which is a bit different.) |

Correct - if you've already reserved a room you'll want to cancel the reservation should you decide to judge 7+ slots. You'll earn a "share" of a room. There are no reimbursements anymore if you opt to stay in your own room. While this was an option once upon a time - too many problems have killed off this option. The hotel rooms for DMs are set aside as a block and shared, typically 3 or 4 to a room. Officially, it's 4 to a room, but at GenCon there's usually a big enough block that it ends up closer to 3/room. Still, plan accordingly in case sharing a bed with someone isn't high on your agenda. |
