| #1jason_29_ohio_dupJan 22, 2009 9:31:57 | I am not sure if this is the place to post this, so hopefully the moderators will move it as required. I and many of my players are excited about the game day coming in march. However, we are all also worried that there may be a repeat of the Weekend in the Realms disaster. I was wondering if we knew who was writing the module, and if it had been given to any RPGA people to look over. I realize that this will not be an RPGA event, but it is a guarantee that most of the people who will be running this event at local stores will be RPGA judges. I also realize that this will be a single session module, but given the reception by the RPGA judges of the WiiR module, I feel that someone should be a voice of loyal concern. Gamedays can be huge, or they can be small. If the module is written for 5 player per table, will there be any notation for adjusting the module for 4 or 6 PCs as we see in RPGA modules? WiiR had no variable stats for the number of players at the table. I know at past gamedays I have seen 8 or 9 people crowded around a table trying to play. I know a competent judge can adjust things on the fly, but having the adjustment information in the module is a lifesaver. Will the maps be ones that can be created with dungeon tiles, or will they be non-tile-friendly as some of the adventures in Dungeon magazine? I would like to know if I need to bring my tiles, my game mat and markers, or both. Some of the....difficulties....that arose from WitR was that the module was published internally by WOTC, as opposed to the RPGA, so there were a lot of format issues. I would hope that since RPGA judges will be running this that T.P.T.B. might decide to use the RPGA format for the modules. I understand that for the printed modules they use a different format. That format may be well and good for when you are sitting with a group of friends over a dining table trying to work your way through a dungeon with no time limits. Hwever, gamedays are going to be run at stores that have set business hours, by RPGA judges who may be scheduling more than one sitting a day. Being able to quickly find all the information for a given encounter is essential to providing the players a healthy and fun gaming experience. I realize that some of these questions will be answered when WOTC posts more information about the event next month. With luck, T.P.T.B. learned from the feedback from Weekend in the Realms. Once again, this post is not meant as an attack, but simply to see if certain issues from WitR had been addressed for the upcoming Gameday. Wishing everyone a safe trip to and from DDXP, Jason |

The Weekend in the Realms event was a bit of a wimper compared to the June gameday in terms of excitement. I'd like to see that same June feeling come back with the next gameday. Looking forward to hearing more about it, the sooner the better. Do we even know dates yet? At least then I could get the game store to block out the day for the event. |
| #3jason_29_ohio_dupJan 22, 2009 15:06:51 | According to the last DDI Insider, the date is march 21st, a Saturday. It will coincide with the release of Players Handbook 2. |

| #5festivusJan 27, 2009 15:52:38 | I ordered my Gameday for March but I didn't see anywhere that one could specify number of attendees. Our last gameday was over 75 people, three tables is probably not going to suffice. Did I miss something when ordering? |
| #6ziptie_dupJan 27, 2009 20:51:19 | I ordered it as well and as far as I could tell we will only get enough stuff to run 3 tables. But in the pdf that came with the email about it I got it did say that if you have more people then for 3 tables your supposed to basically take the minis back to let another group use them, unlike the normal here's your free mini for coming. |
| #7escapistthxFeb 03, 2009 4:22:07 | Does anyone have a link to the announcement? I would've expected http://www.dndgameday.com/ to point to the announcement? I'm aiming to open my own games/comic shop in the next 3-6 months and whilst this event is likely outside of that timeframe it might've been a good promotional event if nothing else! |
