If you haven't already seen or heard, the Character Builder is now live.

Okay, now that you've gone and downloaded it and come back you might like to know how to make it work with the RPGA. It's fairly simple, actually.

When creating a new character (or loading one made with the demo - though I frankly suggest "re-making" your character(s) from scratch with the new software - if you click on the "Manage" button you'll see a field below that for "Campaign Settings"

If you click "LOAD" you'll se two rulesets there. Their names should be fairly self-explanatory. One is for RPGA General Campaigns, and the other for Living Forgotten Realms. Load a campaign setting file - and you're off and running. These files actually lock away options that aren't in the ruleset, so as long as you don't press the "houserule" button your final character should be RPGA and/or LFR Legal.

Ah, but there's a catch. The rulesets aren't *quite* right. It looks like they've added a couple sources that don't quite belong. I've made a few edits and in the morning I'll be uploading new Campaign Rulesets and linking them here for people to peruse and use. Hopefully with the keen eyes of all of you we can make any/all edits we need to keep these rulesets fully RPGA Legal.

I dont know if you have seen the CCG v1.8 or not but perhaps what you are seeing that is wrong is due to changes there?

I can't comment on the CCG 1.8, however the changes that need to be made appear to be simple data selection errors.

For example: FRPG backgrounds are allowed for RPGA "General" campaigns. There are a few things in this vein that are rather simple errors. I actually have the "corrected" files already made up, I just left them on my laptop which I left at work last night.

It's a fairly simple (if somewhat time consuming) task to go through the Restrictions list and remove what doesn't belong. I'd just like to "standardize" all of us on the same RPGA rulesets so legality questions don't come up quite as often.

I'm sure it won't take long for someone to note, for example, that the RPGA rulesets let them build a Warden (or was it the Invoker that got included?) and marks it as RPGA legal. . . .
