May 04, 2008 21:12:55 i'm new at this so please don't laugh to hard. i've rolled up a new character, 1/2 drow 1/2 aquatic elvin warmage. took combat casting feat at 1st level, silent spell feat at 3rd. trying to figure out how to preserve my spell components before and during the casting process while underwater. was thinking about an air bubble cantrip on components pouch with a permanancy spell put on it, but how can i pull out a component inside an air bubble out of my pouch without it floating up to the surface. a pouch full of air sure seems like a nuiscence while swimming underwater anyway, perhaps a bag of holding spell components pouch, but to take them out and use a component without an item saving throw is my dilema. any ideas will be most appreciated thank you in advance from the shameless one

May 05, 2008 13:16:47 This feat from the PHB may help...

"ESCHEW MATERIALS [GENERAL]
Benefit: You can cast any spell that has a material component costing 1 gp or less without needing that component. (The casting of the spell still provokes attacks of opportunity as normal.) If the spell requires a material component that costs more than 1 gp, you must have the material component at hand to cast the spell, just as normal."

[BTW I think that this may not be the most appropriate section of this forum to ask in, try the "Rules, Campaign, and Character Advice" section.]

Agreed.

I'd also note that I've never seen a DM worry about this sort of thing. Unless your DM has specifically stated that this will be an issue, you may be overthinking the problem.
