| #1shadowhntr7Oct 04, 2009 20:05:24 | I've done four or five RPGA events now, and just took the Herald-level DM test and passed it. Looking at the 'current memberships' list, I see DnD Player Rewards, but no DM Rewards. Where do I sign up for it, or is it automatic? |
| #2pedrOct 05, 2009 2:23:29 | It isn't automatic. Instructions are here; wizards.com/dnd/Event.aspx?x=dnd/4new/ev.... It sounds like there should be a link within the Personal Information Center to sign up for DM Rewards. I can't verify that, as I'm already signed up, but if you can't find it, post again and I'm sure someone will be able to help.
|
| #3shadowhntr7Oct 05, 2009 6:47:56 | Yeah...I haven't found it anywhere, so I don't know if the link's no longer in existance, or what. I might have to try calling in for customer service. |
| #4whitebaronOct 10, 2009 6:24:09 | did you get any answers yet? |
| #5aneotoenaOct 13, 2009 14:28:05 | I'd like to know the answer of this too, I can't seem to find a link to the form to join DnD rewards or DM rewards or GM rewards. |
| #6teknohippyOct 16, 2009 11:16:22 | I've been trying to find this myself. It's a bit of cryptic navigation fail going on I think. I found this: membership.wizards.com/signup/Signup.asp... Is that the place you think? I don't see DM Rewards in the list though, only player?
|
| #7pedrOct 17, 2009 12:46:59 | Could you post a screenshot of that page as you see it? All I see is the ability to sign up for Magic rewards. That might be because I am already registered for D&D Rewards (in which case they're mis-labeled on that screen and we ought to be telling people to sign up for those rewards!) or there may be some other explanation! Thanks! |
| #8MajorPressOct 17, 2009 14:16:40 | Ladies and Gentlemen, the problem is much much deeper. Not only is it difficult (or impossible) to sign up for the rewards, apparently if you DID sign up for rewards at an earlier time and have been logging games (as I have), it hasn't counted. I have been trying to get an answer from WoTC on this through customer service and the judges center to no avail. Brian Schenk at the Judges Center actually did respond very quickly and tried to help but they "don't work WPN issues." Nice. So far, all anyone has done is to point me back to the DM rewards webpage. I haven't heard back from custserv, so I assume they are still working it. I'm going to go step by step here to illustrate the problem fully. The DM Rewards information is here: www.wizards.com/dnd/event.aspx?x=dnd/4ne... If you read the instructions at the top of that page , it says essentially what it said back in June when I (supposedly) first signed up. Here's a cut and paste : Receive rewards just for signing up and keeping current. All DM Rewards members receive a special adventure in the spring (April-June) for keeping their contact information current with us. If you sign up for the program after the spring mailing, you will still receive the special adventure within 12 weeks. After your first adventure mailing, all you need to do is update your contact information at some point during the year to receive the next year's adventure. Log in to your account and click on "Personal Info" in the "My Links" navigation on the right side of the screen to update your contact information. If you click on the hyperlink (Log in to your account), it takes you to the DCI login where you put in your RPGA/DCI numer and then your password. That all works like normal. After you get to that screen you see the "My Links" box on the right as advertised. I've been using this to create and report all the sanctioned events I've run since June by the way (which I apparently haven't been getting credit for). But I digress. If you click on the "Personal Info" you get to screens where you put in your telephone number, address, zip code, and email address. Once you do that, here is what you see. "You have successfully updated your personal information. If you click "CONTINUE" you are directed back to the DCI page where you started (where you clicked on Personal Info earlier). I have done this multiple times (the first time 11 June 2009) and have never gotten an email about DM rewards--only emails telling me my personal info was updated. Now then. This is all fairly straightforward. BUT...if you look back on the DM rewards page under the heading of "How Do I Join?" you find the following information that I can't make sense of (red is my commentary). "If you already have an RPGA/DCI number (which I have had since June), skip to step 2. [Step 2] Sign up for the program. You can do that from your profile page (what's that????) after you login to your personal page. (Incidentally this takes you to the Judges Center page) Click on the link to enroll in DM Rewards (as far as I can tell this link is non-existant) and fill out the appropriate information. You will receive your first annual mailing within 12 weeks (yeah, right--not yet I haven't)." Based on this information, the best I can come up with is that the DM rewards program isn't up and running yet. Marc at customer service just wrote me back (bless his heart) and re-iterated that there is a "DM Reward" link from the DCI personal information page. ARGH!! There IS NO LINK!!!! However, on the left hand side, there is a link called "Reward Program". Clicking on that brings you to a MTG page but at the bottom there is a link for "D&D player rewards". I've signed up for that in the hopes that this is the mythical "DM rewards". I did get an email btw that said "Welcome to the D&D rewards program." Is this the mythical "DM Rewards program"? I've tossed the question back to Marc at Cust Serv. Maybe they can come up with something. This is the best I've come up with guys. I'm out of ideas.

| #9MajorPressOct 17, 2009 15:41:08 | Ok, gang. I've cracked the code on this one. Here's the bottom line up front. The D&D player rewards program IS ALSO the DM rewards program. This whole problem is due to the fact that there is no such think as a "DM Rewards program" link. It's called something else--which makes finding it hard. Here's a step by step how you get to it. 1. Get an RPGA/DCI number. 2. Now go here membership.wizards.com/login.aspx?return... 3. Put in your DCI number and password 4. You should be at the Judges Center webpage at this point. Click the "Personal Information Center" link. 5. Now then, you should see your DCI card as well as boxes beneath it labeled "Current Memberships" and "My Links". 6. If you haven't updated your personal information, you should do that now. Click on the "Personal Info" link located within the box labeled "My Links". Fill out your information and then hit continue. You should be taken back to the Personal Information Center page. 7. Now--here is the important part. Look on the LEFT side of the page. You'll see a box labeled "Events". In that box is a link for "Reward Program". Click this. 8. You'll be directed to the following page: www.wizards.com/Magic/TCG/Article.aspx?x... This looks like a MTG page but just scroll down and click the link "Sign Up Now!" at the bottom of the page. 9. This will take you to the following page: membership.wizards.com/signup/signup.asp... On this page you should see two links. "D&D Player Rewards" and "Magic Player Rewards" 10. Click the "D&D Player Rewards" link. Fill out the information (it is very similar to the pages you filled your Personal Info into earlier). 11. Wait for the confirmation email to arrive in your email account. And click the link provided. 12. BAM! You are now enrolled in the "D&D rewards program". And although it STILL doesn't say "DM Rewards Program" it is. I've forwarded my observations about the nomencalture problems up via Customer Service. Hopefully this will get fixed so it isn't so dang hard to figure out. Hope this helps you guys. Joel |
| #10pedrOct 17, 2009 16:44:02 | Many thanks for the information! When you are signed up, that link disappears, so that acts as some level of confirmation, along with the entry in the Memberships list. |
| #11teknohippyOct 17, 2009 17:29:31 | Good, then when I signed up for D&D player rewards I was actually singing up for the new DM rewards. Righto. So I should get the reward for simply setting my info. Now I need to log some games.
|
| #12whitebaronOct 17, 2009 17:31:54 | it helped. a lot. (i seem to be in the program now.) but there's still one strange thing going on - it says I enlisted for the rewards program on the 16th of september - which is nowhere close to when i retook the herald test, or when i updated the information, or when i signed up (today) for rewards. |
| #13teknohippyOct 17, 2009 17:38:23 | My date is also a month early on the rewards card. Most likely that's a programming error, someone took a zero based month index and simply used it as the month number. My herald card dates from march 2003, so I've no chance of actually recalling if that's exact to the month or not! I simply don't remember that far back, slept many times since then! |
| #14teknohippyOct 17, 2009 17:42:39 |
I only see magic link now I signed up for what was called D&D Player Rewards. It must be just badly labelled. |
| #15pogminkyOct 27, 2009 13:54:42 | I went through the process detialed below and in order for it show on screen you have to log-out thn log-in again. Thanks for the info folks! |
| #16jedhedDec 22, 2009 15:32:28 | Sweet Jeebus, that is a User Experience flow from hell. I can only assume figuring it out is the 'entrance exam'. |
| #17bonsJan 14, 2010 12:34:05 | I would like to thank TheBurt for getting me out of the biggest pile of confusion I've seen since I was dumb enough to run players through a Tesseract dungeon (Dragon #17). |
| #18evilpenguinlordJan 21, 2010 20:38:37 | I'm glad this thread came up when I googled how to join... I also feel less dumb that I wasn't the only one with the problem of figuring out how exactly to join. |
| #19BooneronFeb 03, 2010 8:52:57 | When you fill out the D&D Player Rewards info, how long does it take for you to receive a confirmation email? I signed up for everything last night and got emails from DCIAutoEmailer very quickly, except for when I filled out the form for the D&D Player Rewards. I'm not sure if that means I need to fill it out again? Also, I'm confused - is there such a thing as player rewards? I intend to run home games, which qualifies for DM rewards according to the wotc site, but I'm not sure if I have to have my players sign up for the rewards program as well. Does anybody know? |
| #20mikefrenchFeb 04, 2010 6:57:40 | yeah i have basically all the same questions, i never got that confirmation email either, for magic rewards OR d&d rewards. and just to confirm, only RPGA events qualify for rewards right? not like my own personally-created campaign... |
| #21BooneronFeb 05, 2010 8:59:03 | I tried 3 times and I couldn't ever get it to work. I ended up having to create a support ticket and one of the wotc support people had to create it manually for me. Once that was done, it did let me sign myself up to be a WPN organizer, which is the final step. Also, I haven't read anywhere that the DM rewards are for Living Forgotten Realms adventures only - so I had no idea. If i'd know that, I wouldn't have messed with this since my group is only interested in running our own stuff. This whole thing was a terrible customer experience in my opinion. |

You just need to make sure everyone has an RPGA number, which is more of a pain than it should be. |
| #23BooneronFeb 05, 2010 12:22:19 | But when you schedule an event, you have to choose an LFR adventure. How do I report just a regular old home game? Thanks for the clarification! And yes, the whole thing is more of a pain than it should be. |

| #25BooneronFeb 05, 2010 12:42:37 | Awesome! Thanks! With all the stuff in that list, I never noticed that. I appreciate the help. So if we do want to run LFR adventures, is there a way to look through them without having to sanction an event (i.e. read through them to pick the one you want, then sanction an event using that one)? |
| #26kenobi65Feb 05, 2010 12:59:00 | So if we do want to run LFR adventures, is there a way to look through them without having to sanction an event (i.e. read through them to pick the one you want, then sanction an event using that one)? Unfortunately, there isn't. You can't receive the PDF for an LFR adventure without actually ordering the adventure. That said, you might find GamerClubhouse.com useful...folks post reviews of LFR modules there, and it might help you decide which adventures will appeal to you and your players: gamerclubhouse.com/ (Note that, in order to see the full reviews, you need to check the "show spoilers" box in your profile on that site.) |
