3E and 3.5E books Survey

Aug 20, 2011 23:16:14 I was trying to find some specific 3.5E books in prep of a friend potentially running a 3.5 game, and I simply can't find anything local that sells any of them Used. So I was wondering if people who have switched to 4E has saved all their 3E and 3.5E stuff, dispite moving on to 4E.

My guess is that the greater majority of people did still hold onto their older revision books.

Edit: Can people still "legally" get the 3E PDFs?

Aug 20, 2011 23:46:10 Personally I've never disposed of any RPG product deliberately, though I have lost any number of them.

Aug 21, 2011 3:41:42 I sold my collection of 3e stuff on ebay. I've also sold other rpg related stuff on ebay. Ove the years I've gotten rid of loads of fantasy gaming related materials that I no longer used. Sometimes I regretted it, other times it was a good choice.

I have not disposed of a D&D book since I acquired my first in 1978.

I didn't get rid of any of my 3.5 books (I keep adding on the missing books and paizo on top of that), I still have all my 2nd edition stuff as well. I kept everything.

Aug 21, 2011 9:22:58 Jettisoned 3E stuff locally on craigslist, although I kept the 'best stuff' for my library: Lords of Madness, Draconomicon, 3.5 DMG. Couldn't sell much 3.0 stuff though (no surprise there). Anyone want to pick up a very good condition copy of Sword and Fist? No? :lol

Aug 21, 2011 10:23:05 Sold everything 3e and d20 Modern I could two days before 4e was released, except my Eberron books.

I never invested too heavilly in 3.X, as I had friends who had (and still have!) nearly every product in the catalog, and the fact that the emphasis on disparity in power level between players rubbed me the wrong way. I spent most of my free cash buying up books from other systems, or buying up generic gaming aids... Dice, minis, mats, etc.

The last time I sold an RPG book was back in the 90s. I was incredibly broke and it was the only way I had to get $$$ needed to pay rent. Aside from that I've "lost" several books, and I gave away all my 3rd (and a couple nice 2nd) edition Shadowrun books to a good friend who's absolutely in love with the game.

Have you tried ebay or amazon?

I am holding onto all the books that I used for fluff (mostly 3pp books, including Masters of Arms, MCWoD, CoC d20, Classic Play Book of the Planes, The Book of Fiends, Encyclopedia of Demons I&II, and Encyclopedia of Angels). I have some other books that I've been meaning to get rid of, but just never really got around to it. They've been sitting in a box somewhere upstairs.

For 3e pdfs, no WotC no longer offers them legally. If you find them online elsewhere, they aren't official ones. However you can legally find the d20 SRD in various formats including the original word docs, pdf, and if the hyperlink d20 SRD site is still up that was an excellent quick reference.
