It is quite possibly the single most versatile rpg I have ever encountered, and uses a modified d20 system that requires only a d20. If he wants a free one, TheRealOrion has an awesome one called Phoenix that is really quite cool. While I don't care for the mechanics, White Wolf's Aberrant series has some amazing fluff (which is par for the course for them). There is also The Marvel Universe Roleplaying Game, a commercial "resource decision" game wherein the player's allocate "red stones" to various actions in lieu of rolling dice. |
| #3nuadhaMay 21, 2009 7:07:37 | Hero System/Champions is the most popular superhero game, but if the friend does not like GURPS, he may not like Champions. I would recommend Mutants & Masterminds. It is simple and flexible. I had a lot of fun with Heroes Unlimited in the past. The Palladium System used by Heroes Unlimited has flaws, but it is simple and easy to use. |

| #5farmer42_dupJun 01, 2009 17:32:07 | I recomend at the very least grabbing the Champions books. They aren't the whole system, but Champions! does an exemplary job of dissecting the genre and gives great suggestions on playing any system in a supers style campaign and how to use different eras. |
