Fundamentalist Attacks on RPGs

Feb 04, 2009 10:44:23 Hello everyone! I am new to the forums and I just wanted to make people aware that while it has been over 20 years since the religious right attacked Dungeons and Dragons for being "evil and occultic", there are still groups that are against our past time.

There is a website called Fresh Hope They believe that if you don't adhere to their standards of belief, you are not saved and will burn in Hell. They specifically like to attack Catholics. Recently they have personally attacked my hobbies in an attempt to insuinate that I am not a "true believer". I even tried to explain Dungeons and Dragons to them and how I've been playing for years with no problems. They of course continued to attack and berate me.

The point of this thread is to show that there are still extreme religious groups out there who would like nothing better than to see games like Dungeons and Dragons wiped off the map. This is their website...

Feb 04, 2009 18:34:32 Why would you waste your time? Let them have their beliefs and you go do something more productive. The world is full of stupid people. No amount of logic or fighting on your part is going to change that. After reading just a few thread topics I can see that you are not fighting an uphill battle. You are fighting a pointless battle.

Feb 05, 2009 8:53:44 You are right. It just really surprised me that there are still people like this. I guess people are going to be stupid no matter how long it's been since the DnD scare. idk. I guess what scared me is that these types of groups did have control and a say over RPGs. I just wasn't aware that there are still people like that and it scared me for a moment that they would try and do what Pat Pulling did with B.A.D.D.

Oh well. They can't do anything about it now and I'm going to continue to enjoy my RPGs. :D
