| #2syrinscapeAug 25, 2008 7:22:17 | They are truly cool! We already use real coins... Copper, Silver, Gold, and Plantum pirate money... and we use gems for 100gp and these black pearl stones for 1000gp... We also use little cards for equipment.. but these potions take the cake!!! I love props... and it all certainly helps the player to keep track of everything... I Want!!! | #4chris_chanskyAug 26, 2008 23:08:36 | Check out this and this OK .. so you took me to a site that sells a caffeine drink at $3.00 a pop. what does that have to do with a mini-potion to be used as a prop during a game session? I will say best wishes to a DM than can pass out $3.00 shots every game. ![]() |
| #5mvincentAug 26, 2008 23:58:21 | OK .. so you took me to a site that sells a caffeine drink at $3.00 a pop. what does that have to do with a mini-potion to be used as a prop during a game session? Er... those are mini potions that can be used as a prop during a game session (i.e. they are about the size of a shot, which is what D&D potions are, and they resemble the potion design that most people are familiar with). The simularity seemed pretty clear to me... why the hostility? I will say best wishes to a DM than can pass out $3.00 shots every game. I plan to throw them in the diswasher and refill them (with drinks of my choice) between games. |
| #6chris_chanskyAug 27, 2008 7:54:42 | no hostility intended (hint: smiley at end of message). just to me, they are not even similar products. one is an energy drink. granted you can actually drink them where the others are static. and you have the option to refill them. but as a DM, i do not see a practical use of the energy shots in a game session as an actual treasure to be distributed. not to mention the amount of room they would take up. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
| #7mvincentAug 27, 2008 11:29:02 | as a DM, i do not see a practical use of the energy shots in a game session as an actual treasure to be distributed. They would be life-sized props... which in D&D (where potions are shot glass sized) are still pretty small. It's not the drink that I found of interest, but rather the container. I gather the ones you mentioned were more for use as 'tokens'. Nothing wrong with that, but I personally would get more use out of the ones I mentioned. Regardless, I'm rather surprised at your immediate dismissal of something I thought was neat and relevant. I would not have asked you what the value was in the item you mentioned (even though I personally did not have a use for it). |
| #8chris_chanskyAug 27, 2008 12:08:43 | my apologies. i didn't mean to come off so overbearing. as a DM on a limited budget and limited size of gaming area, i find the small mini potions to be better suited to the game session than the drinks. the enregy drinks are cool in themselves, but i personally, don't see them being practical. the mini potions on the other hand, where they look like they would fit more inline with the scale of the minis and dungeon tiles and such, would be more practical. and 20-30 would probably fit in a dice bag or something else easy to carry around. again, my apologies. ![]() ![]() |
| #9mvincentAug 27, 2008 12:49:11 | the mini potions on the other hand, where they look like they would fit more inline with the scale of the minis and dungeon tiles and such, would be more practical Ah. Got it. - The potion bottles you mentioned appear to be 1" in size. - I at first though they were intended to be life-sized (they initially seemed close to 1 oz. size to me, but on closer look I realized they were smaller than 1 oz.). - They wouldn't be very suitable on a battlemap (as they would be the equivalent of a 5' tall urn), but they should work fine as counters. - Groups I've been in rarely use potions (and so wouldn't need separate counters for tracking them), but some DM's have recently shown an interest in finding counters for tracking healing surges. - The potion bottles I mentioned are larger (about 2" tall). I would use them as a life-sized prop so that players know what an actual potion bottle looks like, and give them opportunities to "do shots" during a game. |
| #10chris_chanskyAug 27, 2008 12:59:49 | ahh .. now i see where your coming from. sucks when your not on the same page. ![]() |
| #11_jayne_cobb_Aug 28, 2008 12:19:20 | Found this web site: Can you stop spamming this advertising all over the boards, please? Thanks. |

| #13mvincentAug 28, 2008 13:08:24 | Can you stop spamming this advertising all over the boards, please? He posted in 5 different forums? Ah, I guess that explains why I perceived him to have a vested interest in the product. |
| #14chris_chanskyAug 28, 2008 13:19:09 | Being a DM, I thought this was a cool thing, got a little overly excited and I made a few posts. I then looked at the CoC and it seems that by sharing the link it was interpreted that I was "advertising". So, I thought I would step up and do what I could to remove the links before I was snitched upon and my account removed for doing something I thought was an innocent posting. Lesson learned: make sure that what your posting, regardless of intent, does not violate the site rules! So, believe what you will. |
| #15mvincentAug 28, 2008 13:36:30 | I thought this was a cool thing... believe what you will. I personally don't mind advertising - I like to learn about products. However, it's rather hard not to come to certain conclusions: 1) You started the same thread in 5 different, unrelated forums. 2) You responded negatively when a similar product was mentioned (by someone that also "thought this was a cool thing") 3) Almost all the posts you ever made on the WotC boards have been about your product. Regardless, I'd love to learn about the furniture when it becomes available. I like seeing people make interesting new products, and I often purchase them. I would've been lost without my tact-tiles and steel sqwire templates. |
| #16chris_chanskyAug 28, 2008 13:48:59 | I just found the site. Though cool, I still don't see a connection between the Drink potions and these miniature potions. To me, that's like comparing an AK-47 to a BB gun. Yes, they are both guns, but they are used for different purposes. Just the way I think. |
| #17mvincentAug 28, 2008 13:55:16 | I just found the site. How? |
| #18chris_chanskyAug 28, 2008 14:10:29 | E-bay. The guy was selling several of them there. Had a web link on there. It took you to a google site that rediredted to the site i was posting. there is aonther one there where someone has taken the same jars and filled them with all sorts of stuff and have labels on them. just do a search for mini potions on ebay. |
| #19mvincentAug 28, 2008 14:25:29 | E-bay. The guy was selling several of them there. Had a web link on there. It took you to a google site that rediredted to the site i was posting. I couldn't find him specifically (or the website redirect) in the ebay or google cache. The other seller did not have such a link. |
| #20chris_chanskyAug 28, 2008 14:35:39 | I liked the labeled ones but they don't really fit into DD unless your really into owning the reagents needed for the potions. and you have an **** retentive DM that insists on you having them before making your potion. They were there Monday. It was $3.00 for 8 or something like that. He didn't have any bids though. |
