Guess what.

It's not about who wins.

All most of you are doing is driving the gamers who like to play lots of different systems, like myself, away from both.

After 2 years of this stupid war, I've pretty much dropped 4e/Pathfinder in total (last time I played my Eberron home game was last October, and after the first encounters season started, I was pretty much done there too). I've gone back to White Wolf and embraced Savage Worlds because their forums are not full of 12-year old tools.

Grow the hell up and just play the game you like without your stuid holy wars over games.

It's hard to tell where the irony starts and where it ends...  just too much of it.

They can't be. Tools are useful.

Can't agree more, spend less time arguing over which system is best and put the efforts into coming up with some damn good adventure's than can be used in any system, spend the time developing some quality NPC's for our PC's to interact with and create some awesome villains that the heroes can learn to fear and hate.

Then publish your creations on open forum for others to enjoy.

As for the different games, play them a few levels at least, decide if you enjoy the game, if you do keep playing, if not change to something else. Simple as you like.

I don't find anything about the OP to be ironic in the slightest... I have grown to expect threads with titles including "4e," "Pathfinder," and "vs." in any combination to be pretty much exactly like this thread.

I also expect to see posters make the erronious claim that the activities of an internet forum community directly impacts their experience while sitting at home, with friends, playing a role-playing game.

Saying that this forum, and it's war propoganda, ruins the game for you is akin to me saying "I saw this video on youtube of someone being a jerk in a restaurant chain I like, so now I can't eat at any of their locations." It is absurd.

I also have come to expect anyone claiming to be attempting to "stop all the fighting" or any other related endeavor to, whether intentional or not, toss around generalized insults that are entirely out of line and likely to cause posters to respond more to the "flak flinging" portion of the post than any other content that might be found within.

To the OP directly, I can only say: I hope it does not make you feel attacked for me to make this post, that is not my intention. If you truly want the warring to stop, you can't throw insults around - that just makes you a 3rd side of the fighting, not a peacekeeper.

This thread is off-topic.

This is a D&D 4e forum.

Pathfinder isnt D&D 4e.

Threads about Pathfinder belong in the RPGs General Discussion forum.

So report it.

EDIT: And I don't even play D&D, or any RPG, anymore.

Talk about other versions of D&D in the appropriate forums please.

Exactly. How many times do Dragon Age fans come here and flame 4ed? Or White Wolf fans? Warhammer fans? Or any other system? It. Is. Always. Pathfinder.

And now I'm feeling nostalgic to just a few years ago when the D&D general forum was named just D&D and didn't need to be prefaced with 4e or any other edition exclusive tag. Then 4e roles around and the titles suddenly get exclusive and some folks around here seemingly yearn for their metaphorical city on a hill only for the pure playing their one true edition or some such. It's unfortunate.

As hard as Paizo wants to believe, Pathfinder is not D&D. Not until they put the words "D&D" on their books instead of "The World's Greatest RPG".

Pathfinder is doing just fine with the words Pathfinder and Paizo on the books.

So its the people advertising Pathfinder on this forum who want to cram down our throats that Pathfinder is the "real" D&D, not Paizo.

I think that discussions of whether or not Pathfinder or 4e are really D&D are the probably the most toxic discussions of them all.  They're divisive and exclusionary, and serve no purpose other than edition warring.

There is a difference between whether PF emulates D&D and whether PF is D&D. PF definately emulates D&D, yet it is not D&D. 1st edition, 2nd edition, 3rd edition, and 4th edition are all instances of D&D. Tunnel & Trolls, Castles and Crusades, and Pathfinder are not D&D.

What's this about "our" throats?  Who else on these boards are you speaking for?  Seems to me the only cramming around here is you trying to cram that 4th edition is perfect and deserves only positive comments.

Our throats as in people who enjoy 4E and would like to discuss it generally(on 4E General Discussion no less) without having to deal with edition wars.

I think its great that people state their problems with 4E, as long as they do it without edition warring.

I would welcome a Dragon Age post... just for variety.
