#1 BloodDragon Nov 07, 2008 14:40:10	Noooo idea where this question goes anymore. Anyway this question regaurds Modrons in the Planescape campaign setting from 2nd Ed D&D. Modrons can only perceive one ranks higher or lower then themselves. Duodrones can see Duo, Mono, and Tri- drones. However any explainations of their preceptions are limited to the base modrons... Making no mention if Higher level Modrons can see any/all ranks. (ie. Secundi, Quartons, Hextons, etc). When any of the artical (3rd or 2ed or the PW site) begin reffering to the "Armies of Modrones" it refferences how Secundi (2) are in charge of X many Hexton (6) who are also in charge of X many Pentadrones (base 5). That right there says the Higher forms can preceive the forms which are greater then one step away! Anyway I'm just looking for clarification... or any other niffty tid-bits you may have on Modrones... And before anyone directs me to http://www.planewalker.com/ The site itself is a prime example of the unclarity of how High-Form Modrones work. P.S. I understand Primus sees and know all ranks... but that's Primus. Edit: Where are my manners? Please and thank you.
#2 Zyphus Jan 04, 2009 18:05:05	I don't think "perceive" should be the right word, as much as interact. If I recall monodrones have one sense, duodrones two, etc. A monodrone expects its orders from anything above it, but rarely interacts with something above a duodrone. It also isn't very bright, usually has something to do already, and Modrons don't try to overcomplicate things. It wouldn't address something above a duodrone because it assumes anything above that has something better to do, and it probably is right. A duodrone probably watches its monodrones to make sure they are doing things right and communicates to the tridrone - I would also say they are just bright enough to watch other duodrones, but won't say anything if another one is doing the same work or even reversing what it is doing unless it feels the tridrone has some time to discuss it. After all, a tridrone knows what it is doing. You don't go "over its head" to a quadrone if you want to advance. The special ones - I think anything without "drone" in its name - can interact with anything else, but since things are usually in order they rarely need to do so.
