| #3AirosOct 18, 2009 0:19:16 | Falling down the stairs. 20' length of stairs covered in guano. DM sets a DC 10 dex check to navigate the slippery steps. Nobody in a party of like 10 PCs survived this. That's right; the DM got a TPK with stairs and bat poop. |
| #4The-Mage-KingOct 19, 2009 12:53:52 | PC or NPC? NPC, I racked up quite a few horrible deaths, as I'm the DM to a...inventive player. He hit the mid-twenties in levels, and decided to kill a city's woth of mind flayers. He blew up the top of the cave the mind flayer METROPOLIS was in. And he's only got five levels of Wizard, with the rest being Rogue and Assasain... Then there's how I managed to end that campaign. An elaborate trap in the basement of a castle that he conqured, that he wasn't savvy enough to notice. The basement was full of giant stone tablets that had all of history recorded on them, he went through the many, many rows, unil he arrived at the one that was for now. Finding it, he read 'Ad then the great Assasain was sealed in the basement, never to be released.' Cue panic and Anitmagic field going up around the basement.
Ah, good times... |

I had to use another PC to switch him off in order to prevent an eternity of slow insanity. One of my PCs had to kill another of my PCs. |
| #6ShiftkittyOct 29, 2009 14:50:29 | First character ever was Borg the Bold. 1e D&D. I was the only girl in a small town (pop. 600) who'd play D&D, so the guys were really happy to have me join the group. Anyway, I was Borg the Bold and we went to the Crystalmists in an attempt to get to an evil site at the top of one of the mountains. Halfway up we passed a cave. Half the party wanted to go in, the other half wanted to press on to the top. We decided to press on, but further up the DM described the narrowing and more and more crumbly ledge in greater and greater detail (read: he wanted us to go back to the cave). Well, Borg the Bold scoffed at the rest of the party, who wanted to turn back rather than risk the ledge. Borg strolled out to the ledge, chastising them for being frightened rabbits, cowards, and chickens. The ledge was fine! I remember his last words: "All those with the hearts of lions, follow me!" The ledge gave way, and despite numerous die rolls to save Borg (and the only girl gamer in town), Borg plunged to a messy death. There was awkward silence. I was stunned, but amused that this game didn't have any "gimmees", freebies, or safety nets. You were held accountable for your actions just like in real life! The DM humbly offered me an NPC fighter to take over. Yes, "Carl the Cautious" was born. His first words were "...and those with the hearts of chickens?" |
