However, I don't really think there is much of a reason for doing so since Unarmored Defense is already one of the overall best options for defense - it's basically equivalent to plate mail +2 with a special ability to not count its weight towards your carrying capacity and not impose disdvantage on stealth checks, or a suit of of weightless studded leather +3.
If a character relying on unarmored defense "needs" a bit of an AC boost, that's a good reason to use bracers of defense (I believe the +3 version you are referring to was from the Starter Set, before the magic items were in their finished versions), or a ring of protection. |

You can put some ki points in the crystal for use later, but it drains dry when you Long Rest. - Ranged weapon that can be 'charged' with a ki and it delivers a secondary attack, of the same size as Martial Arts - Fly capability (clumsy) that uses Unarmored Movement speed - Swim capability that uses Unarmored Movement speed. At higher rarity, include water-breathing. - Drowning preventer that uses Unarmored Movement speed - Burrow speed gadget that taps either Unarmored Movement or ki points - Insubstantial / ethereal capability, does not work in combat, uses ki

Or the perma shielded wizard or fighter for that matter.
Say you made clothes that -didnt- count as armor and just added AC. That stacks with everything and pretty much breaks the idea of bounded accuracy.

| (Reply to #4)MonkPlayer | *Monkplayer bows to Brjn*, "Well met my martial fighting friend"! These are some great suggestions! I would add one item though that was in D&D 3.0..Ki Straps. They could add a +1 or +2 to stunning fists or Quivering Palm attempts.
