| #2NovacatOct 15, 2014 15:31:53 | Yes. When else would you be able to do it? |
| #3NoctaemOct 15, 2014 17:04:52 | As long as your DM allows you to use the alternate rules for humans, you would pick that option during character creation. Just make sure your DM allows it as those options make humans the most powerful race of all. |

Hence so does the varient human. |
| #5GrazelOct 15, 2014 18:51:29 | As stated, Variant Human would ONLY be choosable at character creation, and only with DM approval since feats are an optional rule. |
| #6Sands666Oct 16, 2014 1:00:06 | If the question is, "do you use all of the variant traits instead of just some" the answer is you use all of the variant traits in place of your normal ability score increase for humans And as many others have said, ask the DM first. |

If you take a feat at level 4 and the variant human bumps two ability scores up by one it still has two skills that the regular human doesn't have (not so sidelong feats adding skills since both could've picked that via a feat). So I disagree that they're better in ever way. They still seem equal at this point to me.

I'd like you to remove that pin hole vision you just adopted and look at the bigger picture of what exactly variant humans get. The feat alone is unique to the variant and can improve ability scores along with a very wide amount of things. For example, heavy armor master gives you resist 3 to all damage. That's incredible powerful from level 1 - 5 at least and then you gain another feat. There's entire builds that revolve around a specific feat, and being able to take it at level 1 is amazing.
Human variant is the most powerful race available. Furthermore, 1 extra language and 1 extra skill are hardly what I would call a game changer. |
