2. invisibility 2nd lvl illusion - v,s,m - lasts up to an hour +1 person per lvl cast above 2 greater invis 4th lvl ill - v,s - lasts up to 1 minute - no mention of additional persons per lvl
are these spell descriptions backwards? or is the duration wrong for greater?

2. No. Greater Invisibility is higher level and has more restrictions than regular Invisibility because it is not broken by attacking/casting. |
| #3GrazelOct 29, 2014 21:16:27 | 1. No, their fey blood is strong enough to give them some immunities, but the human blood and need for sleep counteracts the elven trance ability (which is a meditative pseudo-sleep). Since they aren't pure fey (elf) they have a watered down subset of the fey powers. It's also why there is no variant half-elf that gets a bonus feat and skill instead of stat bump because their human blood isn't pure.
2. Invisibility has a longer duration and affects multiple people if "powered up". It also breaks due to attacking and other situations. Greate Invisibility only affects the caster and has a shorter duration (and higher spell level) because it doesn't break like invisibility. That's also why it's a separate spell rather than just Invisibility with a "at higher levels" entry for added benefit of not breaking as easily. It may not be totally intuitive because of the name but it's not just a powered up Invisibility spell, it's a variant Invisibility spell with a different overall effect, just a shared effect of making the caster invisible. |

Invisibility is for scouting, retreating, or exploration (casting either just before or during it) GREATER Invisibility is for combat (casting either just before or during it) |
