Q1 Can a monk split his two attacks between two targets if they are both within 5 feet of him? Example: in two squares adjacent to monk there are enemies. Monk attacks enemy one with shortsword, then attacks enemy two with unarmed strike.
Q2 Can a monk split his two attacks between two targets if the two attacks are split up by movement? Example: Ten feet from monk is an enemy, monk moves adjacent to enemy and attacks. Twenty feet from where monk is now stands a second enemy. Monk moves to second enemy and attacks with unarmed strike.

You can do this at Level 2: Move up to pair of enemies - Attack one with monk weapon - hit - use a ki point for Flurry of Blows - move around the other enemy - attack the other enemy with unarmed strike - move to somebody else - unarmed strike him - move away. (Expect a bunch of opportunity attacks for your brazen rash act.) So monks can in fact minion-sweep. Or you can leave a bunch of injured enemies for your Ranger friend to go all Giant Slayer / Whirlwind Strike on.
When you get Extra Attack, can you minion-sweep six targets? Or must you roll double attacks on each of three targets? |

| #5DraelynOct 25, 2014 0:45:30 | How are you getting the second bonus action? Shouldn't it just be your attack action(1), spend your 1 ki point and bonus action for flurry, FoB (2), FoB(3). At 5th you get to take a second attack action (4) |

| #7DraelynOct 25, 2014 1:13:09 | I should have been more specific. I'm refering to the "minion sweep" of 6 targets in BRJN's post. Or was that a question about the ranger attack? |
| #8YunruOct 25, 2014 3:49:50 | Could of been Extra Attack, Action Surge, FoB. |
| #9BRJNOct 25, 2014 8:39:02 | A Monk5 uses an Attack Action with a monk weapon, elects to Flurry of Blows as a bonus action (allowing him two targets), and posesses Extra Attack. This gives him 6 attack rolls. How much can they be split up? (a) Up to three targets, with two attack rolls each (b) Up to six targets, with one attack roll each.
Maybe I should have started my own thread instead of stomping on somebody else's... |

For an extra attack for your minion mashing monk you could put 3 levels into ranger (hunter, horde breaker). You get an extra attack if an enemy is within 5' of your 1st target. That would get you 5 attacks (Added bonus of hunters mark would give you an additional d6 of damage to each attack if you are eanting to focus on a single target with high HP) other than that, multi classing fighter will get more attacks eventually.
