| #1souldragon_420Dec 23, 2014 21:58:26 | Does Action Surge give you a 2nd bonus Action? From what I can tell it doesn't but it seems some ppl are theroycrafting like it does so was just wondering if there had been a ruling on this. |
| #2NovacatDec 24, 2014 0:14:14 | The feature does exactly what it says it does. You can take an additional action on your turn. People may be referring to this as a "bonus" action in common speech, but it's not what the rules would call a bonus action. |
| #3Macv12Dec 24, 2014 0:52:02 | Why they tried to call it "an action" instead of "a standard action," when other kinds of actions exist, is beyond me. But seconded. Action Surge doesn't give you a second turn, just another use of whatever you can do on a (standard) action. |
| #4Plaguescarred4Dec 24, 2014 3:05:48 | FYI It has been clarified by Jeremy Crawford that Action Surge doesn't grant an aditional bonus action http://thesageadvice.wordpress.com/2014/11/27/action-surge-grants-one-action/#respond

| #6SkullKingXMar 03, 2015 11:25:11 | So does that mean that a two-weapon fighter can't gain a second attack with his second weapon? I mean a fighter getting 6 attacks in one round by level 5 is crazy, but its only one attack more than it normally would be if there is no bonus action added. I believe the intent was for two-weapon fighters to gain a second attack. It just makes sense. Especially since it "... one additional action on top of your regular action and a possible bonus action." If it was meant to be seperate, wouldn't it state or?
Edit* - I did not realize who Jeremy Crawford was. I take my statement back about how it is read. I still keep my opinion that it should grant a bonus action as well. At least for the purpose of two-weapon fighting. |
| #7KalaniMar 03, 2015 12:27:43 | Sorry SkullKingX, you are wrong. Action surge allows you to gain one additional Action. TWF uses your bonus action. A 5th level fighter using TWF and action surge gains a maximum of 5 attacks/round as follows:

On your turn, you can take one additional action on top of your regular action and a possible bonus action. |
