As we all know we add our str and dex to damage when attacking. This increases the overall damage and even the lonly 1 on a dice can give a decent result.

But how about the spellcasters? I know that they can if lucky get a whery high damage, but when they role a 1 or more the damage are pittyfull. Why isetn the abilitymodifyer added to magic spells?

For instant a cleric with +3 wisdom that got a 1 on his "sacred flame" 1d8, would atleast get 4 for his trouble instead of the irksom 1... Atleast on cantrips it would help alot.

As of now  its really better just hacking away with a sword as long as you have 12 strength then using magic since you are guaranteed 2 damage instead of 1.

Because spellcasters get additional superpowers that pure melee classes don't have access to. Your damage without spending ressources is lower, your damage with ressources is higher.

Clerics of Light or Knowledge domains can add their wisdom modifier to cleric cantrip damage at 8ᵗʰ level. Clerics of War, Tempest, Trickery, Life, or Nature get Divine Strike instead.

I see Wel thats clreared then! But I still feel they should have their ability modifier on the cantrips only from the start. For at the 8. level the cantrips are just not that interesting anyway.
