#1 Proletheus Aug 01, 2014 6:44:03	Hi fellow D&D afficionados,   I've got some questions concerning thrown weapons. Since they seem to be ruled quite poorly, I thought they were worth their on thread.   Can you throw a weapon in your off-hand without penalty?   Imagine the following situation. The PC has a one-handed melee weapon in his main hand. Since he can't reach the enemy, he draws his dagger with his off-hand and hurls it at the enemy using his action. Since the basic rules don't talk about main-hand / off-hand-stuff at all, I suppose he can make this attack the way I described without penalty. What do you think?   Multiattacks and thrown weapons?   Since you can draw a weapon as part of an action, I think that going by RAW, you can only use your extra attack feature with thrown weapons if you already wield one at the beginning of your turn. The reason is that you can only draw a weapon as part of an action once. So if you already have a dagger in your hands you can go: ranged attack - draw weapon - ranged attack. If you have no weapon in your hands, you can only go draw weapon - ranged attack and be stuck with it. Additionally, it would be completely impossible to make three attacks with thrown weapons on your turn - as long as you don't dual wield(and even in this case, you'd need both thrown weapons to be already in your hands at the beginning of your turn). Do you think I'm right? Do you think that that in this case RAW = RAI? I personally think that if a fighter can make four attacks with his bow at level 20, he should also be able to throw four darts.   Thrown weapons and two weapon-fighting?   You must have one of your thrown weapons equipped at the start of your turn in order to this. You would then use your action to draw and throw the first weapon you use to attack and use your bonus action to throw the weapon already in your hand afterwards. I do see room for a Feat that would allow drawing two weapons in the same action, perhaps with the caveat that they are both light weapons (or even finesse weapons, or both light and finesse); to validate the TWF, throwing daggers archetype. Of course, they could make it part of the Dual Wielding feat.
