Arcane Foci

Is there a difference between the various arcane foci? I can't find any rules that indicate that any of them do anything besides replace material components (which may, in essense, answer the question).

 

Bottom line: Is there any reason, for example, that a wizard would spend 20gp for an ORB, as opposed to 5gp for a STAFF?

While more convienient to carry, they can be disarmed, which is a tradeoff for the cheaper price as well.

Plus some indirect RP situations... some might be easier to hide or fit better under certain social situations than the others (or a componant pouch).  A noblewoman wearing a 1lb crystal necklace is guady but not immediately suspect of sorcery like one with a pouch full of bat poo or a giant staff.
