Is it hiidden anywhere and I cannot find it? Or doesn't exist at all? (yet) |

Is there a particular reason you want such a spell? |
| #3daedelMay 28, 2015 14:13:32 | Ahh, look where it is, thank you Aaron.
One of my players is going to play a wizard and asked for it. For no particular reason tbh. Made us waste part of the afternoon looking for it until we gave up and selected other spells. |

| #5Tempest_StormwindMay 28, 2015 15:57:23 | One of the more interesting properties of the true arcane mark from previous editions was that it was unique to the mage casting it - in effect, it couldn't be forged. Eberron notaries used this property from the ground up - arcane marked documents allowed for secure exchange of information, ensuring that orders didn't come from a false source, and as the foundation for a large banking industry, among other things. (They applied similar measures, along with some basic behind-the-scenes cryptography, for other communication measures, like Sending. But the lowly arcane mark was quite the workhorse.) It could be forged or fooled by high-level characters or villains - but these are expressly rare in Eberron.
You can't achieve any of that with chalk or a dagger, nor Magic Mouth (though it comes closer). A non-permanent mark is easier to justfy - Eberron made frequent use of dragonshard items to bend magic's rules just a little bit, usually making it cheaper or slightly more frequent for certain families, and "the mark function of Prestidigitation lasts forever" is a simple enough rule-bend to fit under that category. |
