Arcane Trickster: Mage Hand movement & using objects

Hey there!

1.)

the PHB says on page 98: "You can make the spectral hand invisible"

I am wondering that if I would grab an object and make the Hand invisible. Does the object also gets invisible, if it is enclosed by the hand? Or does the object magically fly through the air?

2.)

The "normal" Mage Hand spell says (pg. 256): "You can use the hand to manipulate an object, open an unloked door or container [...] or pour the contents out of a vial."

Sound pretty much like the "use an object"-action. Can it be put on the same level?

Would be glad about answers!

Jun 14, 2015 6:13:25 1) The hand is invisible, not the things it carries. This allows an invisible approach, but you may need a distraction for long-range pickpocketing. 2) Ask your DM. I'm fine with it, assuming the object is light enough.

I would also tack on that if the mage is doing "use object" with the spectral hand, the mage cannot do his own "use an object" action in the same round. My own personal take.

The spell does clearly state that it requires your action to use the hand, while an Arcane Trickster can control it using his Cunning Action bonus action. Manipulating an object is called out as one of the things you can do with that action/bonus action. Myself I'd probably stick to the book here, I've found mage hand to be extremely useful as is, especially from Arcane Tricksters.
