Since an Archdruid can use wildshape an unlimited number of times, does that mean one can keep changing between different beasts and elemental forms to get free hit points?

Yup. But keep in mind, you don't get a whole ton of hit pointe with each form. But yeah, a 20th level Druid (especially a Moon Druid) can survive a long time by just using Wild Shape each round. Only the Moon Druid can do that and also attack each round, however.

I think the designer messed up a bit here. Druid with unlimited wildshape basically gets reduce damage by 90 per round. Monsters need to do more than 90 damage per round to even tickle the druid.

Weeeeellllll..... even with unlimited shifting into elementals....    I would imagine that you would need to revert to human form before turning into a different animal / elemental.    So, turning human, then back into a beast in a single turn would involve using both your bonus action AND your regular action.   So, you effectively use your entire turn to cast a healing on yourself without expending a spell slot.

Considering that's pretty much a wasted turn doing nothing more than healing, I'd say that's a win for the enemy - its kind of like a single round hold person spell going off.    Especially when, at level 20, you're dealing with Tarrasques and pit fiend swarms.

As well, there's the option of holding your action until the druid shifts back to human, and before to another shape.   Use your reaction to hurt him in human form.

Also?   Power words rely on current HP.   Power Word Stun.   Spells like that are common at level 20.   An enemy blackguard could Banishing Smite you.    Heaven forbid a sleep spell hit you when you've gotten hurt a bit.

The enemies you face at level 20 are more than capable of dealing enough damage with focus fire to take you down.   Which is why they'll probably save the druid for last - bonus action regeneration makes targetting a moon druid a losing proposition even at lower levels.   Well, unless they Chill Touch you.    Still, taking down the regenerating druid first isn't ideal.    Its better to get rid of others first.
