#1 Undrhil Sep 07, 2014 2:22:27	Does a creature have to be entirely within the area of a spell to be affected by that spell?   If I cast Cloud of Daggers in such a way that there are three creatures "within" it, will it affect all of them?
#2 2Chlorobutanal Sep 07, 2014 4:27:54	Some spells say "entirely within," such as Hunger of Hadar (I think).  Otherwise, I'd probably say if at least 50% of the creature is inside the spell's area (or the creature's "origin" or center point is inside the spell's perimeter), they are affected by the spell.   For a grid system, I rule every grid square as either "in the area" or "out of the area," and only creatures that occupy at least 1 square that's "in the area" are affected.  For spells that have effects on people "entirely within" the spell, I say that if all their squares are within the area of the spell, they are "entirely within" the area.
