Bag of Tricks

In the DMG that is a wonderous item called bag of tricks.  It says three times a day that a player can grab a ball out and get a random animal that does whatever it is told.  However it doesn't say how long these critters last.  Did I miss a duration here or, if not, what stops the industrious play from makeing an army of critters?
