| #1DrWho4Nov 08, 2014 13:39:22 | This came up in my group today when examining the rules for two-weapon fighting.
My interpretation was this. Basically, everyone has the capability to move, perform an action, perform a reaction, and perform a bonus action. BUT! Unless you have something that tells you how you can use a bonus action (like a fighter, rogue, two-weapon fighting, a spell that uses a bonus action, etc.) there's nothing you can use it on.
Is my understanding correct? |

I could look it up, but I'm stating it simply for academic reasons. It seems a pointless thing to add to the rules. |

But what it prevent is using your bonus action to knock a lantern over. (unless your a theif). |

| #10NoonNov 09, 2014 18:37:11 | Yeah, PHB, page 189 says you don't have a bonus action unless you can use it for some specific rules stated move. I guess to stop people saying 'hae, I have this bonus action thingie - it must do something!? Quick, I use it to get extra stuff, while arguing it must do that stuff because it can't just do nothing' |

It has nothing to do with bonus actions iirc. I have not played a thief yet, do they gain use an item as a bonus action as an augment to their cunning action ability? |

Free interaction = knock over a lantern. Action = knock over a lantern. Bonus = can NOT knock over a lantern. (unless your a thief). |
| #15ClutchboneNov 10, 2014 11:43:35 | Favored Enemy: Lantern. |
